The crew collaboration between VR and USS

Hey guys, just a few words from me which none of you'll read.Q

It's been a while since I edited a video and having the honour to 'pick it up'  again with this video was amazing. I had forgotten how much work it is to edit a collaboration or a crew video but doing a crew collaboration must have been one of the biggest projects I've ever done.

I (and my crew mates with me) had a great time working together with the guys from Volatile Reticent while making this video. The stunting styles of both crews are much alike each other.

Everyone involved, thanks for the great stunts you all sent, it made the editing job a lot more fun. I'm gonna stop rambling, just go watch the video. Thanks guys!

Oh BTW, watch fullscreen or download; YouTube doesn't recognize the resolution as widescreen...

[noembed]Stadium Top landed with Sanchez - Link[/noembed]

Normally I wouldn't make a topic for one stunt but since people can now use the stadium for Sanchez records I'd figured "what the hell".

BTW, this is all possible with two vehicles as the Skimmer can fly up to the bottom roof (obviously), whereas the Sanchez can bump up to it naturally from that bump we all know and love.

So.. Solo #23. It's been a while since Always - which was my last "regular" solo (Colossus was a lot more themed). I've done a lot of themed video's (especially solo's) in the past, and very few normal solo's. It just isn't my cup of tea somehow.

However, I did enjoy stunting for this about as much as I did for per example Colossus. It's been a long and winding road for this video, but in the end I can say that, besides a lot of frustration and such, I got a major kick out of this.

I don't really have much to say about this anymore - I included a text file that you should read AFTER watching this video. It explains a couple of small things that some might find strange.

I hope you'll enjoy this video. Responses are welcome, and full reviews are especially welcome :)

PS: Sorry Arnax, I know I didn't send you a beta - I wanted this out asap, and I hadn't spoken you in days, and since I didn't want to lose any stunts, I reckoned I'd better just release it.

PPS: To those who have already replied at the other forums, thanks =)

VC Chat & Support / Game crashes on loading
« on: September 21, 2008, 02:43:41 AM »
I tried installing VC again and when I start a new game or try loading one it crashes once the loading bar gets to about 1/2. My drivers are up-to-date, I have all the updates for XP (including SP3), and re-installing doesn't help.

According to the R* site, my PC should be able to run it normally. I'm using my old graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 2 MX/MX400), which worked on my old PC just fine, with the only real change in hardware being a 1.7 GHz processor instead of a 800 MHz one.

So seriously, why the fuck does it crash and how do I fix this shit?

Meet The Stunter / [MTS] Docta Luv

Docta Luv

When you joined DSU what was it like and what effect did the merge with ATS have on you? (Knapman)

Joining DSU was one of the most exciting times in my career.  I was looking to move on to a more active situation where I could really put out some stunts.  I was having a conversation with KiD_A when he brought up the possibility of starting a crew with Aries, who had just left TMS (if I remember right).  After we got Dannye and Gnat in there, we were set.  We put out One Mind, which did very well, and we were riding high.  And then we began the merger talks.  Of course, I never had any doubts in my mind that joining ATS would be a good idea, but I was a little anxious about how it would go over with the community.  After the initial rush of “Holy shit, I’m in ATS!” wore off, real life got in the way and I was unable to be in “The Awakening,” which is probably my biggest regret.  But to specifically answer the second part of the question, the effect the merge had on me was it kicked my ass back into gear and got me excited about stunting again.

If ATS stop making videos, would you want to reform DSU? Do you have any regrets about the merge? (ofthemountain)

That’s a good question…I guess I would just as soon leave DSU in the past and not try to reform it.  I wouldn’t be against, not by any means.  Hell, if asked to join again, I might go for it.  It’s just that if DSU is reformed, I won’t be the one leading the charge

As to the merge, no, I have no regrets other than what I said earlier about being unable to participate in “The Awakening.”  I think the merger did nothing but good for all of those who were involved.

Is there any stunt video you wish you could do a sequel of? And why? (godson)

I have two videos that I would love to do sequels of.  The first video is Blind.  Not many people know about this video, but it was a very good video with a lot of stuff that was ahead of its time in terms of editing and stunts.  I’d like to stunt with the group in that video again, which is the main reason I’d sequel it.  We had Torque, Daffy, Fugitive, NotTheFace, and me.  It was a fun bunch.

The second video I’d sequel is Attrition.  This video still remains one of my favorites to this day, simply because of the amazing people in it.  I would love to do another video with the likes of Brainkiller, KiD_A, Misguided Angel, Insane, and NightKid.

You've been in three of the most influential crews of ampt.tk and later on - GTAStunting; vERt, DSU and ATS. What quality does each crew possess (in your eyes) that the other two don't? (Torque)

That’s a tough one, because these three crews really had a lot in common.  They all had great people, they all had great attitudes towards stunting, and they all had both KiD_A and me as members   But anyway, I’ll start with Vert.

I think that in Vert, more than in any other crew, there was a real laid-back relaxed atmosphere.  We didn’t care if the next vid took two weeks or two years, we’d put it out when we damn well felt like it

DSU had a real upstart feeling to it.  We were on a mission, we had something to prove, we had goals.  It was really cool.

ATS is the tricky one.  In many ways, ATS is similar to Vert because of when it started and the kind of stunters in it.  Also, since many of the ATS members today were DSU members, ATS in my experience is also quite a bit like DSU.  But one thing that sets ATS apart I think is the sheer variety of the people and abilities.  We have young (I’m 16, and I think KiD_A might be even younger) and we have old (do I even need to say who? )  We also have stunters with a variety of “specialties.”  Neo, Kaneda, and Dannye are really good with taxis as well as with PCJ’s, I’d consider myself to be more of a car, boat and tank stunter nowadays, Aries and Nitz can do damn near anything, Madmax has his pizzaboy, Nagual and Samurai have absolutely insane creativity, and the list goes on and on.  So for ATS, I’d say the diversity sets us apart from my past crews.

If there was one person's specific stunting ability you wished you could possess, what would it be and why? (i.e. Neo's taxi boosting skill) (NoAPOlogies)

I’m going to use your example, NoAP, because I’ve always been fascinated by taxi stunts.  While I love technical stunts, they’re really not my specialty…I don’t have quite the finesse (or the temperament sometimes ) to go for them too often.  I love the big air stunts, and you pretty much don’t get any bigger air then you do when you hit the perfect taxi boost.  Tank stunts can get you pretty high and pretty far, but nothing near the heights that people reach doing taxi stunts.  Also, I think there’s something that’s just cool about being able to jump from one island to the next, given the right spot

How do you feel knowing that there are modders getting away with modding? (VenomX)

Back when the “modding craze” started, I would get all riled up about it, and I’d bitch about how unfair it is and all that, but now I just can’t seem to make myself care too much about the modding situation.  I think it’s terrible the way that people get harassed if they’re suspected of modding.  Even worse is when they come clean, start new, and nobody gives them the benefit of the doubt.  It’s just sad to see the community gang up on a stunter who made a mistake once and then cause him to leave the community.  What really made me stop getting all pissed about modding was seeing SS leave the site because there was just nothing in the world that would stop people from ripping on the guy.  It’s bullshit.  So really, I get more pissed off at the people who can’t move on than the people who mod in the first place.

With who would you want to make a video? (BoBsaget)

I’d always be willing to do a collab with anyone who I’ve been in a video with before.  But as for those who I haven’t had the opportunity to stunt with yet, I think it’d be cool to do a video with Kingjad, Kr3mlin, and Brulla.  I think these three would be cool specifically because their stunting isn’t quite “mainstream typical style”.  They have their own original style, and they’re all quite awesome in my opinion.

What do you do if you don't land a stunt many times in a row, and you feel that you won't land it today? (DarkPhoenix)

If there’s a stunt that I really like, and it’s fun to do, and I know that I can get it, I’ll just keep at it until I get it.  If I try it for three hours and don’t get it, I’ll take a break for a while, then come back and hit it again.  The only time I’ll give up on a stunt is if in the middle of me trying to do it, somebody else lands it, or if I just stop liking the stunt, which doesn’t happen too often.

USS Video Releases / Always - Xtramus
« on: August 20, 2007, 12:00:15 PM »

Another time I tell stat whores to fuck off and die; another time I try to create something entertaining; another time I experiment with new things. This might just be the video I've always wanted to make; as technical as it can get, as I can get. You will not find any packerbumps or BSMs in this, nor are any stunts included that focus on speed, height or distance; instead technique, execution and style are things I focused on while making this. All stunts included were executed like I wanted them to be - that means, not a single fluke.

I am not interested in the opinions of those who do not look past statistics - however, the ones of people who do are free to leave a comment. For all those wishing to write a full review, check the spoiler at the bottom.

Dedicated to bj070893, a great person and inspiration, for always.

VC Tutorials / Basic Parkour Tutorial
« on: August 12, 2007, 11:52:46 AM »
OK so after a couple of people asked me to make one, I went ahead and did.

It contains the basic uses of grenades, ledges and the skimmer boost. Seeing as how Brulla taught me a lot of this, it would be selfish to try and hog all the glory.

It does not cover any FL off methods; the main reason for this is because I think it's an unfair technique seeing as how it wields better results on a higher framerate, so people with good computers would naturally be able to do more of that stuff. I personally think that if you need to be the best, you can only truly reach that by practice and hard work, not by opening Daddy's wallet for a new computer.

Right Now
A VC/LC Parkour Video

Yes, another one of my parkour videos.

This one includes more combo's than the previous three I made (Ascendancy and the Reverses), and unlike any other parkour video I've made in the past this isn't made in 24 hours.

Although some people may think this isn't all that hard, they'd be surprised about several things if they'd try it; however, that is not the point I'm making with this video. I don't want to make a great video, with a lot of good stuff in it. I don't want to any award for best editing or whatever. I made this video for pure fun, and the process of it revolved around experimenting, mainly in terms of terrain, about finding spots that make you go "cool, I can do this here if I go that way".

I wanted to make a video that I watch and say "damn, that was fun to do." I don't feel the urge to read comments saying "OMG great vid", I feel the urge to read comments saying "great vid to watch". Stunting is too competitive right now, I feel people should focus on fun, not "fame".

Meet The Stunter / [MTS] Torque
« on: August 01, 2007, 03:34:45 AM »
Torque

***The reason this interview is so long is because Torque wanted to pick some of the questions himself***

I've been watching Deadliest Catch a lot lately... maybe too much. If you owned a crab fishing boat, what would you name it? What is your favorite band, of whom you do not own any of their albums? Which band do you have the most mp3s of, but don't own any of their albums? (NoAPOlogies)

I'd probably have to go and name the boat Jeff. Right now my favorite band, that I don't own any albums from has to be Dope. The band I have the most mp3s of, that I don't own any albums is Static-X with 55 songs. It would've been Korn with a long shot if I didn't buy their albums (129 songs).

In you're opinion, what's you're favorite video of all time? Would you love me if I told you I watch Survive daily? (Nightkid)

This one's a pretty hard question to answer, you can only watch a video so many times until you get bored of it. But one video which really stood out for me had to be 5ive, it was amazing in all aspects for me. Perfect editing, perfect stunts and it totally revolutionized stunting in my eyes.  Nightkid you already know your one of my favorite people that I know.

When it comes to stunting....what part of it do you enjoy most. (multiple choice question) (Nitzkit)
1. Timed Videos
2. Roof Pwnages
3. Normal Video Releases (solos)
4. Normal Video Releases (Collabs)

Timed videos have always been fun to do, it gives you a chance to try stunts and land those ideas you've had in the back of your mind for a while and don't have to worry about others taking them seriously. People have over-exaggerated the concept of a timed video lately so those really don't appeal to me anymore. Roof Pwanges are alright in my book, just not the best thing I like to do. When it really comes down to it, I'll have to say that solos have to be something I enjoy a lot. I can just take stunts I like to do and put them in a video with my own style of music and my own style of editing and just worry about making it the way I see fit. Collaborations might also be enjoyable, but it's a real downer for me when they don't end up the way you wanted it to be.

Why haven't you settled down into a crew? What video, that you've been in, do you like the most? Are you ever gonna release another solo video? (finallight)

I wouldn't have wanted anything more but to be in a crew back in the day, all I wanted to do was be in a crew when I started stunting but I never really got into one. The way I think of it is that almost every great stunter from back in 04 is in a crew. There are probably three exceptional stunters that are great and aren't in a crew, and I'm one of them. I would love to be in a crew but most of them don't need a extra stunter or aren't really interested. I'm tied between three videos; Survive, Dedicated and Connected. If I had to choose it would be Dedicated, that video was legendary and will remain legendary for generations to come. I've had the idea in the back of my mind for a while but from the looks of it theres a really-really slim possibility that I might make another "real" solo.

Have you ever got so bored of stunting that you have thought about quiting it? (Insane)

Oh yea, so many times. I've gone countless days without stunting and I just feel so lack-lustered with stunting that the only thing left to do is quit.

What is your favorite thing to do away from GTAS? (NoAPOlogies)

Driving has to be it. It's been such a great experience for me, otherwise it's just chilling with people, my friends and family.

Who's your favorite stunter from back when you were first stunting? (Atenshun)

GTAFanatic takes the cake. He's the one that got me into stunting, ampt.tk and has been my mentor for me from the start. The first stunt video I ever watched was Stunt Reel 4 by GTAFanatic. And four years later I'm still stunting and here, I never saw that coming. After all whatever happens in the future can be anyones guess. Is there even gonna be a world four years from now?

If you could go get 5 stunters in the whole world and spend a day with them, who would they be? (Hiei)

Five stunters that I would spend a day with would be; Nitzkit, Nightkid, Blah, NightKnight and GTAFanatic. I've spoken so much to Nitzkit and Nightkid that I can almost say that I know everything about them, there really great people to talk to. Blah and NightKnight just manage to waste so much of my time I can't help but wonder how they'd be in real life.  The last one is self-explained.

What would be your dream team of stunters? And what stunts would you have them do? (Energise)

My dream team of stunters would contain all these guys: Valikai, kr3mlin, comaboy, Misguided Angel, Buzzsaw, Dannye, Samurai, Insane, Fugitive, Bloodyhook, Kid A,finallight, Nagual, GTAFanatic, Jehde, Daffy, Nightkid, Morton, NightKnight, Barney, Kaneda, Darkness, Whiteshadow, Neo, VenomX, Technogeek, Rocka, Xtramus, mike, Nitzkit, marklund, Andyroososoft. I'd just have them do whatever they do best.

What makes someone a great stunter? (KiD A)

In my eyes a great stunter has to be a great person, one who can talk to everyone and can basically get along with everyone. A honest and trustworthy fellow. He also has to have some skill, do decent stunts and not just try to go for the highest roof he can find.  He has to be unique, land stunts that no one would've ever thought of, create and leave behind a legacy. The stunter will not resort to RADs no matter what, and will have the patience to do whatever stunt he pleases.

Why do you dislike the lazy wheelie speed glitch? Why do you stay at these forums? What do you dislike about stunting? (finallight)

For me it just seems like a short cut to do stunts, I've seen people do old stunts that were done without it and use RADs to redo the stunt, or use the glitch for stunts that do not require it. I've also been guilty of using this method myself and I admit that there are certain stunts that do require the use of this method but I generally tend to stay away from those types of stunts. I stay on these forums to basically get ideas from others for stunts, read what others think of my videos and other works. It's a great place to be for critiques and criticism, both good and bad. Although I prefer the good.  As I said before, people have started using things like RADs and glitches to do "better" stunts. That's just really lame to see.

What's the last video you saw, that made you want to do better stunts? (BoBsaget)

Outlaws, the atmosphere of that video was just mindblowing.

Why do you use a different skin for each different vids? (Arky)

Well when I started stunting and started watching videos, GTAFanatic would use different skins for each one of his videos with a matching PCJ color. I guess since I had looked up to him, I had gotten into that habit as well. Now I just do it because it's unique and not the same old thing that everyone else does; using custom PCJs, sparks, clouds, grass, skies, streets and that kinda crap.

What was the first few words to come out of your mouth after you landed the busbump in Connected? (Daffy)

I tried to say something but sound wasn't coming out of my mouth.

You, as have many stunters, first started editing with Windows Movie Maker, but now you, and many stunters, use Sony Video Vegas. (finallight)
1) Why did you start using Vegas?
2) How did you handle the transition between Windows Movie Maker and Vegas?
3) Would you ever edit another video with Windows Movie Maker?

I started using Vegas because I felt that I was limited to what I could really achieve with videos when I used Windows Movie Maker. I had downloaded Vegas right after I had finished my fifth solo; Right Now. And it just stayed on my PC until I started a small demo video Exssurextion, that was the first time I had ever opened up Vegas. And then I got used to it when I really played around with it when making Survive. Probably don't think I'll ever use WMM to edit again, however I'll keep that thought with me.

How do you view your career in terms of what you have wanted to accomplish? Do you have any regrets like not joining a crew? Any people you haven't stunted with that you would like to? In short, are you happy with the way that you've spent your three years on this site? When can we expect another solo from you? Will you ever join a crew? Do you like the way that stunting, as well as the stunting community, is progressing? (Docta Luv)

My "career" has been alright, it could've gone hell of a lot better. I really wish that I didn't take that long break in '05, and then get back to stunt near the beginning of '06. But I've met tons of great people in my journey and that's enough for me to be happy with my career. I lost several opportunities in the past to be in one but I'm just hoping that I'll get several more in the future. I've stunted with a lot of great people in the past three years and I've fine with who I've stunted with, don't really expect anything more. Of course I am, I really loved the way everything turned out. I honestly don't know if there ever will be one more, I guess we'll just have to wait and find out.  It's safe to say that I will join a crew, just really not sure which one though and remember guys theres only one Torque in stock so get me while I'm hot.  I really don't like the way everything is turning out right now, more people are insisting on being "bad-asses" on the forums and there are just tons of really stupid posts being made. Stunting could be better, the flow of videos released has slowed down dramatically, but hopefully that will change.

Whats your take on continuous modding? (Plethzorb)

It's retarded. If your gonna mod and say your sorry and do it over and over again then just get off these forums. We don't want you here - it's that simple.

Why do you always take major breaks between videos? How come you still manage to keep up with modern standards? (Xtramus)

Because it keeps you guys on your toes waiting for me to be in a vid.  I really never thought about it. If I have stunts lying around I'll usually IM someone and ask if they know of anyone who's doing a video or I'll get with some crews and ask them if they need a guest. I suppose that I have my own personal goal of guesting in a video with every crew. I don't really think about the "standards", because to me these "standards" are just what everyone else wants to see from a stunt. I'll just be riding around and go to myself "Oh, that's a cool stunt. Wonder if it's possible." and just give it a few goes. You should be the one who sets the standards, not anyone else.

What question would you like to be asked (that didn't come up in this interview), and what would be the answer? (Ostits)

I'm happy with the questions that were asked and couldn't ask for anything more.

No, not an audition by someone with "I am produce audition for you!"-English.

Anyway, I just wanted to make a small little announcement because of the fact we have recently welcomed a new member to our crew.

Please say "Hello." to Solaris!

I hope you'll be having a good time and help us produce more nice videos.
