VC Chat & Support / Me want collab

http://www.gtastunting.net/index.php?topic=60767

I didn't want to bump an almost 5-year-old topic, but thanks Ltab for taking care of this, you made a solid vid and it's nice to see it's still up. I appreciate the 'LOL DUMBASS' comment on my Zebra stunt. haha (I think it was from a Roof Pwnage I was working on but never finished of that lower roof)

I think this may be the only video I'm in that's still available.

Music / What happened to the music topic?

There was a thread, started by Torque, I believe, that listed all the music used in stunt videos. What happened to that thread? I wish to consult it.

Community Council / UPLOADS
« on: June 01, 2012, 10:25:28 AM »
I'm not sure if this belongs in Community Council or General Discussion, but I was wondering if there's a solid plan to finding a reliable upload/download site? Since that MegaUpload fiasco, I'm noticing every download link is no longer working. TGA, filefront, sendspace, etc... down the crapper. What still works, and what can we use?

Youtube is great for streaming, as long as they don't remove or silence the videos due to copyright "claims" from WMG et. al... but for downloading, I think we really need something reliable and consistent. Would it be viable to use something like Yahoo briefcase? Just a community-wide account that we could all log in to, and upload and download things at our leisure? The only problem off the top of my head being that anyone could then delete anything they wanted, were they to start some kind of pissing match with others.

What about e-mail attachments? YouSendIt? Rapidshare? (either one)? Something where the file can persist for more than a week, so someone can come back after, oh, say six months and download all of the videos he had missed out on.

VC Chat & Support / Love Juice
« on: September 12, 2010, 10:46:06 AM »
I'm sure many of you have experienced this, (don't tell me I'm the only one who actually plays the missions anymore) but I first thought it was a problem with the ultimate main.scm.

Every time I play the "Love Juice" mission, the dealer comes up to my car, says, "I got what you need," and then just stands there. Nothing happens, but it's not frozen, I'm guessing some programming error like an infinite loop or something is preventing the program from getting to the next line of code, or whatever. Point is, he's supposed to say, "Thanks for the money, sucka!" And drive off, but he never does.

I press escape, nothing happens. I type BIGBANG, the screen shakes but my car (and any on screen) doesn't blow up. I type ICANTTAKEITANYMORE, nothing happens. I press ALT+F4, nothing happens. So I CTRL+ALT+DEL out, and end the program that way. (I don't even get an unhandled exception!)

Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, I used to think this was an ultimate main.scm problem. However, I just got this error while playing with the regular main.scm.

I am playing with the <_< "alternate" version of the game, but the ONLY altered files are carcols.dat and particle.cfg* (I even still have the normal american.gxt and street skin!)

So if I have this error, what is causing it, and how do I fix it?

I'ma try with the CD, see if that helps, but for future reference, I would like to know what to do.

*I edited the particle.cfg in one of my OLD GTA Vice City folders, on a different computer, but for some reason, my dust is still green. Fire isn't green, Explosions aren't green, smoke isn't green, but the dust (from helicopters, etc.) still is. lol

Edit: Where are my manners? Hi! How is everybody?

I know I'm not the only person itching for this to start... discussion, sign-up, organization...

Anybody?

I'm willing to do whatever, as long as it doesn't cut into class time. Far Cry 2 can wait.

Computer Talk / RAM speed?
« on: September 13, 2008, 10:00:20 PM »
Apparently I have to get a certain size and certain speed of RAM or it will not be compatible? Where can I find these specs? I opened up my PC and all I can see on the RAM is serial numbers, 256 MB, and made in mexico/taiwan/china/russia (depending on which part)

and I couldn't find that in My Computer Properties either.

Computer Talk / Need help with DevC++
« on: September 09, 2008, 10:44:37 AM »
In my class, we have an assignment, involving premade functions, below the main function. We're supposed to make a table using two different methods.

For the first column of entries, we use cin and cout. No problem there.

For the second column of entries, we're supposed to use this function:

Quote
   int promptForInt( const string &promptString )
   {
    // initialize function
    int response;

    // output prompt string
    cout << promptString;

    // input user response
    cin >> response;

    // return user response
    return response;
   }

Now I need the effect of this:
Quote
  cout << "Enter second test number: ";
   cin >> TestTwo;

The closest I could come up with is:

Quote
int promptForInt( const string &"Enter second test number: ");

But I keep getting the error: "expected ',' or '...' before string constant."

If I add a , or ... then I just get more errors. What should I do?

((If I can't figure anything out, I'll just use cin and cout and explain the issue in comments.))

Computer Talk / Check Out This Beast

Haha not really. It's $1,534.

I can't afford to get it yet, but I'm saving up for it starting now. And getting the RAM immediately, of course.

Computer Talk / I want to build a computer.
« on: August 31, 2008, 10:23:19 PM »
If anybody would be so inclined to pick out parts for me, I would greatly appreciate that and would be glad to return the favor with some graphics work or video/audio editing of any kind.

This is more important to me than getting a car, so don't worry about price. I shouldn't say that. Um, let's say I'm looking for anything in the $0 - $5,000 range. If it will be more than that, don't hesitate to include it and let me know about the price. I'm willing to splurge.

Adobe Photoshop, Sony Vegas, Adobe Illustrator, Sony Acid, Mozilla Firefox, iTunes, Winamp, Windows Movie Maker, Grand Theft Auto IV, Guitar Hero III... they all need to work very well on this. I really like it when there is no skipping or lagging, and my browser doesn't take more than five seconds to at least start loading a page. Here are the specs I require, go nuts:

    * Power Supply/PSU – Whatever is necessary.

    * Motherboard/Case – Um, whatever is necessary. Prefer capability for at least 2 Hard Drives, 8 USBs, 2 Optical Drives, and one 3.5" floppy. (I have a bunch of old DOS games that I still like.)

    * Processor/CPU – Don't care which brand, whichever suits me best I guess. At least 2.0 GHz.

    * RAM – at least 1 GB. Please.

    * Hard Drive/Hard Disk – One or two, at least 500 GB overall.

    * Optical Drive – Two please. I need to be able to read CD's and DVD's, as well as write CD's. I don't have any idea what the difference is between CD+R, CD-R, CD+RW, and CD-RW. Anyone want to elaborate?

    * Video Card/Graphics Card – Um, I edit videos, I like to watch High Quality Videos (and even the occasional XQ vid) and play videogames of course. Whatever is necessary for that.

    * Sound Card - I like sound. I intend to have a very very nice speaker system and be able to record and edit music on my computer. Do your worst. (I mean best, of course)

If anybody could help me pick out parts, that would be awesome. Please let me know if you can be of any help. And remember I can return the favor with graphics or video/audio editing.

The Marketplace / Audio Editing

In case anybody wants audio editing done, specifically making songs shorter or longer, or making transitions between songs, I can do those.

so let me know if you want something like that done.
