Right place to post this? :c
« on: December 14, 2013, 05:17:37 PM »
Hello everyone,

I bet you're all happy to hear something of me! I really doubt anyone noticed I was gone
I have changed alot through out the time I was gone. I am not longer that obnoxious motherfucker you used to know me as. Well whatever, I had some problems in real life. My laptop being a douche was 1 of the problems I had.

It was always freezing at whatever I opened up. And always say 'WindowsExlporer.exe stop working'. Or something close to that. And I have it 'rebooted' I think is the word. And I'm starting all over now. Lost all my replays and what not. But that's ok. If I get GTA to work again I might be able to do something fun for a next solo.

And that's the purpose of me creating this topic. Everything works fine, for as far as I'm worried. But 1 thing, really important, doesn't work. And that thing is Internet. I tried installing drivers again and still didn't work.
I have no idea what it could be. It says that there is no 'driver' installed. But I have no idea which it could be. I tried to download a few before.

The list of 'Device Management' shows to exclamation marks(!) at 'Ethernetcontroller' and 'Network Controller'.

Anyone knows which drivers I exactly need to fix it? I have no Internet connection with it, so I have to be able to put in on a USB and put the USB in my laptop.
Whoever gives me the right solution, I love you.

Thanks in advance!

install an antivirus, make a clean scan for the HDD! it might be a trojan blocking the process of "explorer.exe"!

and for the ethernet controller, you need to install the latest drivers of it! hmm

i got this site in french: www.touslesdrivers.com which is an efficient site for drivers detection!

The freezing sounds like a trojan, and not like your typical computer glitch.
Get malwarebytes trial version, run a full scan. May take a couple of hours.
Post here what you get from the scan.

First of all; sorry for the double post. I just wanted to make sure somebody would see I changed something.

I just download Malware, put it on a USB, put the USB in the laptop, and installed it as soon as I could.
It gave me an error right after I closed the installation tab.

The error says:
'An error has occurred. Please report this problem to our support team, please (give the contents of any error message(s) and -code(s) in your message.

PROGRAM_ERROR_UPDATING (0, 0, no Address found)'

I translated it with Google Translate. I know it's a dumb decision but oh well.

It is scanning but I wonder how long this will take.

Edit: The scan I finished I THINK. The Malwarebytes anti malware bytes (doesn't respond anymore)

Which is one of the main problems I have with the laptop...

Unfortunately, you're still posting those "inspirational" quotes and depressed teen gurlz xx </3 cutting themselves on facebook, so I'd say you're still relatively obnoxious.

I'd rather be the GTA 4 Stunt Master.

This topic makes me feel like reading a diary from a 12years old girl. It's like ''Today I changed a lot and I'm not that bitch I used to be''. It's not who you are underneath, but what you do, that defines you. Making a topic about how you changed just makes you look even more daft.

On the topic of 'changing', making a thread about saying 'you've changed' gives people the impression you just reached your double digits. It's best to change and let people see, than to post and get attention. After all, 10 year olds do want attention.

Lol, whatever the fuck is going on here;

I started scanning my laptop 2 days ago. And it is STILL scanning.
<66:11:25> That's the time it's scanning. 1 object detected. But I don't think this is going to end.

And GT4sm, I have a reason for doing that. The solution is, delete me from facebook.

It shouldn't take that long, a couple of hours max. Stop the scan, look at the object. If it's a pup. file then you're in the clear.

Blaa

It shouldn't take that long, a couple of hours max. Stop the scan, look at the object. If it's a pup. file then you're in the clear.
The object is named:

C:\\Windows.old.000\\Windows\System32\catroot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\Package_1_for_KB2604115~31bf3856ad364e34~x88

That's all that's completely on the screen.
I just stopped the scan but my laptop has the urge to freeze every 30 seconds.
I will edit this post if it's working again.

There's been some real nasty stuff coming out of Russia these last few weeks, we got hit with a wave of porn spam at another forum. Those attachments would be something I wouldn't want to open. Maybe after enough people have to reload their computers they'll learn.

here's a standard response for showing hidden files when fighting malware

Open My Computer.
Go to Tools > Folder Options.
Select the View tab.
Scroll down to Hidden files and folders.
Select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck (untick) Hide extensions of known file types.
Uncheck (untick) Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).
Click Yes when prompted.
Click OK.
Close My Computer.
these changes are reversed later

I would want to see extensions all the time, especially on attachments

grandmas.jpg.exe

or grandmas.jpg

From a forum about catroot.
