2022 Community Video

Since blinking your eyes twice equals 2 months passing these days, I guess it's time to get the ball rolling.

GTAS has seen many videos in the past couple of years, every single one being amazing in their own right but there's something about an actual community video that feels so much more bonding. Since the buzz started living up in the Exsequor thread I figured I'd kick it off and obviously anyone interested in helping out with this is more than welcome to!
Post in here or message me on Discord :a-cheer:

As for the 'quality' of the stunts: You're free to land anything that's at least (somewhat) new, it doesn't have to be a mind-boggling video from start to finish. This is about participation and bringing the people of this insane community together, so just have fun with it! ♥

As SA is still very much kicking and we know both engines combined into one video can work quite well, and not to leave anyone out from participating, I added a poll on whether this should be a VC engine only video or if we want both engines in one video.

I'm up for it.
Can't say I'm the biggest fan of both engines in one video, but given the current (lack of) activity over here I say go for it. Maybe making it in two parts, one for each engine if there's enough stunts for it?
Hope this doesn't fall short, I'm already firing up gta to land some mediocre stunts  :a-cheer:

ayeee let's fucking go, i'm down to help with anything i can, for now i probably won't be taking anything video/GFX related but even something like replay checking or voice acting i'm up for it!

Maybe making it in two parts, one for each engine if there's enough stunts for it?

i think he actually didn't mean to mix VC and SA in one part, since that doesn't feels as aesthetically pleasing, but all VC stunts and then SA stunts (or vice versa) in one two-part video.

Thanks for getting this rollin'. I'm totally up for replay checking, preferably for the VC part.

I'm down to land some stunts if I'm back before the deadline :jajaja:. I think combining engines might feel visually disjointed, especially if the frame rate isn't matched, but pragmatically, I would say it's the right choice to involve as many people as possible. I would suggest using 30fps, since SA's replays are actually supposed to display at that frame rate, it's just that the game's messed up frame limiter forces them down to 25fps, hence why SA's replays are slower than the actual speed of the game (especially noticeable with FL off replays). I wonder if it would feel strange to have SA and SAiVC in the same video though, doubly so if you want the video to appeal to casual audiences, since they wouldn't fully understand the differences, so it might be best to stick to VC/LC for the VC engine and SA for the SA engine in separate sections. Good luck to everyone involved, regardless of which choice you make I would love to try something when I'm back :euro:.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention, but if you want to match frame rates between VC/SA whilst aiming for 24fps instead of 30fps for a more cinematic feeling, here's the ultimate solution, if you're interested :ninja:. Make your editing project 24fps, but film both VC and SA at 30fps (in SA use SilentPatch whilst filming or speed up the footage by 1.2x to do this) - this will match both replay speed and frame persistence between VC and SA. Now if you just use the footage in a 24fps project without changes, it will look fine, but you'll get frametime stutter, because 30/24 = 1.25, which doesn't evenly divide down, meaning that some frames will last longer than others creating judder. The solution is to interpolate the footage down to 24fps using something like Optical Flow or Twixtor, which completely solves the problem with the right settings, and gives you lovely cinematic footage when paired with carefully judged motion blur, both to convey the speed of the vehicles and simulate a camera's shutter. I highly recommend RSMB if you want cinematic motion blur, with the motion blur amount set to 0.5 for an 180 degree shutter angle, and carefully judged sensitivity settings to look just right, with keyframed sensitivity tweaking to remove artifacts on difficult frames ;D.

Both engines and all maps (SAiVC, United, Alien City)

Already have some stunts if everything is acceptable.

I would join too, already have some unused stuff in SA laying around.

I agree with VaNilla that it would probably make sense to make it VC/LC and SA, and leave out the SAiVC map.
