For those who think this is only in Los Santos and not completely San Andreas...

Look at the people playing golf. That's Avispa in San Fierro.

Look at the oil rigs and machinery. That's Bone County, Las Venturas.

Look at the mountain people are climbing on. That's Mt. Chiliad, the mainstay of the Badlands south of San Fierro.

It's San Andreas, baby.

Rockstar is recreating LA as they did with NY, so they would add a golf field, (which LA obviusly have...), as you can see that golf field is obviously in LS (look at LS tower on background...)

Los Angeles have well known petroleum pumps near beverly hills, just do some research (oil machinery is obviously in a hill area with LS downtown as background, beverly hills much?)

Los Angeles countryside is again a well known mountain'ish area (San Gabriel Mountains), just look at the first LA pic on wikipedia, which would justify the mountains seen on the trailer. Much more likely to be those then Mount Diablo (Mt. Chiliad's inspiration...).

It's just Los Santos baby... (for now )

Even tho I'd love to have SF and LV, there's definately NO evidence on this trailer, except the San Andreas license plates, which aren't wrong, since LS is in the state of San Andreas, in R*'s world...

The wind turbines are evidence of an area between LS and SF actually, but keep in mind that the very first SA trailer also only shown LS.

If memory serves, IV's city was essentially III's city, but they didn't break it into definable islands like they did in III - Portland, Staunten Island and Shoreside Vale - it was all just Liberty City. Maybe the same will happen with V. Instead of LS, SF and LV, it will all be considered just San Andreas.

Keep in mind I don't recall the three islands having those names in IV, but they very well might have. If they did, it wasn't as prominent in the game as it was in III.

Seeing the LS skyline in any of the footage doesn't mean the scene is shot in LS. You can see LS from just about anywhere in the original SA. The chances (in my opinion, anyway) will be that there'll be more than one city, and probably separated by water. That's a constant theme in all GTA games, so I don't know why they'd change that for this one.

EDIT:
The wind turbines are evidence of an area between LS and SF actually, but keep in mind that the very first SA trailer also only shown LS.

I was certain it showed at least one casino.

Not as far as I remember. But no it wont just be called San Andreas, you can see at multiple points in the trailer signage that says 'Los Santos'. Also more evidence that it's not just set in LS is that you have planes; one big reason they didn't have planes in LC is that you had nowhere to really fly to as it was all just 'LC', but now we have them. And lastly perhaps the most obvious clue that it's not just limited to LS is that we're shown a shot of the Interstate 5 highway, which I believe connects California (Los Santos) and San Francisco (San Fierro), although I don't know much about the US states :P

I'm probably thinking of the second SA trailer - with the Gunner's song as the soundtrack.

I suppose this is the problem with it not being an offshoot game - it's not called GTA: Wherever. I guess nitpicking over this and that is all gonna be academic once the game comes out. I remember all of this type of conjecture on the cusp of both SA's and IV's release - half of which proved entirely wrong

The second trailer and the accompanying vignettes will probably clarify a lot of the theories and opinions. One question I'd like answered though is who will make a reappearance. In particular - will Lazlo be back!

Should be, he's produced all the radio stations in every 3D GTA game (Lazlow is the guys real name) and he's also starred as a radio DJ in every game as well. Along with other radio personalities he's the only character who made it from the storylines of GTA 3/VC/SA into IV. By the way if anybody wants to know who the homeless guy is in the trailer, look no further.

Guy on the ship in the introduction to GTA IV.

Hobo in GTA V, likely to have lost his diamond riches in Venturas.

He seems more detailed than the other generic pedestrian models/textures, I'd bet he's part of the main story line.

EDIT: Removed extra as it was typed after Kaneda's reply.

Random character encounter, perhaps. Like the 11 (or whatever) random mission characters in IV. Good call.

Also just considered that the diamonds were the main part that connected IV, TLAD and TBOGT's storyline's together. They were stolen from Ray Bulgarin who you kill at the end of TBOGT, and is one of the main antagonists in GTA IV. You lose the diamonds during a firefight with Ray Bulgarin's men in GTA IV when the last man standing throws them into a truck passing by, leading us to believe they're lost forever. When you kill Bulgarin at the end of TBOGT he's trying to escape to another city (presumably San Andreas). You have a plane ticket in the game's manual of Niko Bellic heading to San Andreas (link here). What if this storyline continues in GTA V, and the diamonds weren't lost after all? :D

Yeah I just read this, such a shame, I think it's first gta with only one city? Anyway, the desert will be probably more advanced so we can count on some small citys here, and so in countryside. Mountains also look fucking big and I can only imagine landing on one these windmills :P

Vice City (name says it all) can be seen as one city and GTA3/IV also had one city. Like you said, I bet the country side will make up for that big time (considering they have the Interstate highway in there)
