Yeah so after seeing Tack ask about progress I thought we should make a thread about it.
Basically the group stage section is done and beta-watched (thanks to all who did that), we got some good feedback and will probably fiddle around with a few things based on that and some other stuff we want to do, but that's essentially done.
The intro script is all set out, it's just a matter of at some point going through the arduous task of assigning a load of player skins to in-game models. However that's going well in general.
Now the final has finished, we have everything collected to make the main part, which we will probably do over the course of this week and maybe next week as well. I don't like to set deadlines because things can (and usually will) always go horribly wrong, but if nothing goes too badly wrong this should easily be out before August, if not much earlier.
Any questions?
EDIT: Any questions NOT already addressed in this post?

Date it's coming out, lol

July 26th, 4:15am. Seriously, how're we supposed to know? Si mentioned in the first post the situation with the times etc, so it'll be out within those constraints. And morbid....42 .
-
Sounds good guys, I am really looking forward to it!
-
did you change my skin..??
-
Yeah we did . Update, recorded about half of the knock-out round stunts now.
-
Sounds awesome!
-
I hope you guys show some of my early ones too.. my finals stunts sucked
Also will it be like 20 min or 10 min? ..roughly
btw your new sig is awesome oftm!

.
This video will probably be about 10 minutes, its 4:00 plus 4:30 plus outro/intro, which together will come to about 1:30 giving 10 mins.

RedX: Thanks this guy ^^^ made it on request, since that game owns. On topic though, the group stage part is gonna be more like highlights, considering the ridiculous amount of stunts done for it. There are like 27 stunts in that part, no one has more than one stunt for that bit as we wanted to get as many people in as possible. Please don't let this be a que for everybody to start saying "am I in", just wait for the video.
The knockout stage part includes every stunt done in that section, so all the stunts you did (as well as everyone else) from the quarter finals onwards will be in.
-
What game is it ? i saw it for wii but didnt read name.
Can't wait for this video !

okami, I think?

Aye. I was with him when he bought it.

Update!
After bloody hours of problems, the intro script finally, COMPLETELY works and it's looking pretty awesome. Gonna film the intro pretty soon. All the stunts are now filmed except for one, which I could do with some help with from anyone who knows what to do.
Basically, when trying to film Tack's Final stunt where he lands on the bouy, the actual txd for the bouy is stationary and stays at Tack's head height, while he lands on the invisible bouy model just below it. I have the updated cols and all the other LC stunts look OK, any idea what I can do to fix this? I noticed it looked fine in Tack's clip, so I'm guessing he knows how to solve this at least.
-
Only guessing here (so quite probably wrong), the buoy bob's up and down during standard gameplay, yes? So perhaps the height that it appears in the reps is dependant on the height it is at when you hit F3 - so if you press F3 when it is at its lowest point, in the replay it will appear stationary at that point?
-
I've tried it multiple times, I'll try again though later on. I guess it could be that, although it seemed to be in the same place every time I tried.
-
you should just go over to that bouy and just land there yourself, and film the rep upon the buoy, which usually works for that sorta thing.
-
Thanks Sweet, that seems to have worked . In which case all the stunts are now filmed, the intro is all done and dusted totally (filmed, rendered a test and all looks fine). We are also a few stunts into editing the final stages part, so progress is good in general.

Woo, im fucking awesome at helping people with recording problems

Rendering HQ, 83%

Rendering HQ, 83%
That's some awesome news!
-
Oh my god you dudes are fast
-
Does the judges included in the vid? (In the intro)
-
OK we rendered the HQ, few things we need to change (which is annoying, considering it took 11 hours). However we are having some problems with lagging in the recording. I'm pretty sure my computer can handle it, any idea what to change to make it happen less without compromising quality too much (since I know a lot of you guys would like a pretty high quality version as well as the other versions)?
-
Wow, you guys are fast 0.o
Good job on the progress, I hope you don't have any more problems with rendering

cool

Close even the slightest CPU/memory demanding programmes wtih ctrl+alt+delete and dont touch the computer while its rendering.

lol you can touch the screen
-
This aint a DS you know
-
lol you can touch the screen
NO! Absolutely not.
-
Don't even look at the computer, don't be in the same room as the computer, disconnect the internet as well, be about a mile away from PC until rendering time is complete so you know there has been no outside interference.
Most importantly of all, make sure the cat does not get in the room so it lies on the keyboard and causes absolute mayhem...
-
I am having similar problems, its taking some effort to have it remain constantly at the max FPS. I am disconnecting my network cable, turning off my Internet Security, turning off a bunch of processes that aren't that important, varying the draw distance in game (unfortunately I cannot have it at full), and closing Freeplay when not using it (if after all the previous its still struggling). Sometimes my game just gets angry at me after a few attempts at recording the same stunt, and for all attempts afterwards, it picks a spot in the middle and always lags there, and the only way to stop it is to restart the game, and hope I can get the perfect recording before it happens again. I am playing in windowed mode while recording, but I doubt that makes it lag any less, I just like it that way. Also I used to have a theory that if you moved the player (in-game) to the rough location where the rep takes place then it'll run a tiny bit better, but that's probably just superstition, I dunno. If none of this stuff works (which is the case for me with one rep I've come to so far), I guess the only other option I know of is BKs half-speed method, if you're not already using it.
Good luck dudes.
EDIT: Just realised that you probably meant lagging in the rendered product, not the individual Fraps'd clips, my bad... I guess you can ignore everything I just said . Although the last 3 words still count!
-
Thanks for the advice Danny E, although we did mean during rendering . Either way cheers and we'll keep that in mind in the future.
Guessing the colour corrections and everything on the second half of the video have something to do with it, all of the stunts lag more in general because there's more going on on screen. At the moment we're attempting to render an mp4 or mkv version of the video using Daffy's tutorials, and a medium quality WMV will also be done tonight. So expect to see this within a few days .
-

I have that theory too. I think it does work cus then the game doesn't have to use that little extra cpu to load the location's textures, draw distance and what not.
Edit: lol lex you're going ape shit about quality now that you're getting a new computer aren't you?
-
The mkv encoding failed a fair bit as we missed out a pretty big part of the tutorial. However now I know the problem; in Daffy's tutorial at one point it says "select the GTA profile I posted". It's not letting me do that for some reason, any ideas?
-
Daffy's GTA profile is set for dark and brooding while your using bright colors
I wish I could help for realz though.
-
iam in this video ?
PM me back please
-
You'll find out when the vid is released suzy, so chill.
-
Good news! I think...basically I have a medium-low quality mkv working and a Mega quality mkv version which my PC is too shit to run. I'm pretty sure it doesn't lag given the right amount of power to run it. Looking for a middle ground generally decent quality mkv one now.
The bad news is that every wmv I try to render (lower or higher quality) lags still, which is really annoying. I'm kinda at a loss of where to go with getting this to work with wmv now, I guess over the next few days I will just keep rendering versions and playing with settings to try to make something that looks good and runs smoothly.
Hopefully I can at least get a decent quality range running smoothly in mkv format, although that's hardly ideal as I know a lot of people won't be able to run it. I guess we'll have to see what happens in the next few days, sorry for the delays.
-
have you tried an xvid render? those generally don't lag.
-
Great news! We tried Xvid and got a good quality, completely smooth version! Expect a release pretty soon, once we do a MQ Xvid and maybe try wmv one more time.
-
That is awesome news! Cant wait for this
-
MAN IM ON A FUCKING ROLL
-
The rendered wmv's might lag if the bitrate is set too low. Setting it to 5 (or higher) might work. Sorry, if you've already tried that.
-
Great news , can't wait to see .

We had it on 3 or 4, thanks for the suggestion .
