Community Council / Re: Why is there no suggestion board?
« on: January 29, 2012, 11:21:41 AM »
Well i meant like community council child boards one for suggestions then the other ;p feel stupid now.
Maybe like remove signatures and avatars for faster loading time, and a option to turn them on? Cuz when im on gtas its usually on my phone and it takes a while, my comp breaks a shitload for some reason

"Don't show users' signatures."

Speaking of large signatures, could you resize yours?

You guys are truly amazing! With the amount donated now, a full year of hosting bills is pretty much covered provided we stay with the current host. With the improvements I've made to the back-end, the site should continue to be stable where it is at the moment. As said before, I don't want you guys to go out of your way to donate. I realize times are hard for everyone. That said, every bit helps and what's left over will be kept for keeping the lights on next year and/or getting a better server if needed.  :a-cheer:

Donated. Just give me a hollar AJ to confirm you got it. I'd hate for it to be floating in the nether regions of the internet.
Holy shit! Thank you man! I'm currently thinking about doing something special for donaters, but I'm not sure what outside of doing a private section. However, a private section would be pretty useless imo. Any ideas?

To those who want to donate: As I've mentioned before, PayPal is the easiest solution though I know why many of you hate it. If you guys know of any payment accepting service similar to PayPal, I'm all ears.

EDIT: If anyone else wants to donate, you may want to wait a couple of weeks just so we don't set off flags with PayPal. :P

Just donated all I had on my bank account. It was only a couple of dollars for now, so wait for my pay day. :cc_detective:
Thank you man! Like I said, every bit helps a lot!

Thanks guys. I'll look into setting up other donation methods but PayPal is the easiest for me as I can have the money go directly to the hosting company. For now I've blocked some more suspicious IP addresses, modified the crawl rates of several search engines and optimized some SMF code. The site seems to be running much better now and using less resources. Hopefully it says this way and we'll be able to stay where we are.

If you could tell us how much you pay and the different fees, I'm sure that many members will help once they see what it cost to run this place  :)
Currently it's around $150 excluding tax and domain fees a year. It's usually a bit more than that, I had a discount last year. The next tier of hosting would be a VPS. The cheapest VPS I can find with unlimited space and bandwidth is $300 a year.

Hey everyone,

You may have noticed over the past few days that GTAStunting has been slow and unreliable. You may have also noticed certain features getting disabled due to high load. Today I received notice that GTAStunting is using too many resources on the server and therefore has been suspended. While I had nothing but great things to say about the host before, the lack of warning and the terrible support turn around times as of late has caused me to rethink my choice. Our best option would to go for a more business oriented hosting with more room to stretch out, however this will cost more than I alone am willing/able to shell out. While there have been a few donations in the past (thank you), I've been paying out of pocket each month for the past three years to keep the site running. I've kept advertisements away from signed-in members and I haven't been throwing donations or personal appeals in your face. The money I do make from the advertisements is only few cents a day and I won't get that money until it hits $100 total. What I'm hoping is some of you might be able to donate via PayPal to keep the site running, stable and free of annoying advertisements. Even just a few bucks would be greatly appreciated.  In the mean time, I'll will continue to try and make do with the resources available to me.

Cheers,
AJ Collins

The GTAStunting.net Forum Awards 2011 Winners

As usual, I feel like I should give a few final words after I completed this task 2nd year in a row. Thanks to every single person who helped fill up the video list, sent his nominations and voted for his favourites. Without all of you this wouldn't keep growing every year. I'm very proud to say that this year we've broken all expectations on vote amount and even passed last year's amount of voters (115, last year 110).
For fitting last words... well, let's quote Daffy once again, I can't put it better myself:

"Do remember stunting is about having fun, not winning anything.
This is merely meant as a appreciation to those who inspires us."

It lags on my HTC Desire S  :euro:
Look at the first post. I've added information on how to decrease the draw distance. It should help.

Chat & Support / GTA 3 Mobile Modding
« on: December 15, 2011, 09:08:44 PM »
Thanks to Rockstar and War Drum Studios, the Grand Theft Auto III port for iOS and Android devices uses a direct port of the same RenderWare engine that the original game used. This means that most files are moddable using the tools we've gotten from the amazing tool makers over the years.

TXD - The file structure is almost the same, the textures seem to be stored differently though. The game will still load texture files from the PC version though so this really isn't a problem.
DFF - Map objects and cars open just fine with Kam's Tools. Character models are another story.
GXT, IMG, IPL, IDE, COL - Same as GTA3 PC.
SCM - Same as GTA3 PC but has a few extra opcodes.

Accessing the files on your iOS device
The easiest way to access the game files on your iOS device is to get iExplorer. It is a free program that allows you to explore your device without jailbreaking. To access your gta3.set file, you may have to jailbreak and get afc2add in addition to using iExplorer.

SCM Decompiling
The SCM for the mobile version is almost exactly the same as the SCM for the PC version. However, the mobile version uses two extra opcodes. Because SannyBuilder is unaware of these opcodes, the SCM will fail to decompile. To properly decompile the SCM, you will need to add the follow opcodes to the SCM.INI file.
Code: [Select]
03A8=1,
03A9=0,
Thanks to spaceeinstein for the opcodes!

Set File Documentation
The gta3.set file contains a number of settings for various game options, including ones not available in the game menu. The file can be found at (Root Directory/User/Documents) for iOS devices and at (/sdcard/Android/data/com.rockstar.gta3/files/GTA3) for Android. Below is a list of documented hex offsets, their function and their options. To edit these, you'll need to open your gta3.set file in a hex editing program such as XVI32. If you've found a function and it's offset, please reply to the topic or shoot me a PM so it can be added.

Community Council / Re: GTAS 10 years anniversary?

As I joined in April 2004 and was member 106 I think it was, I'd have to guess as 2003 being the year ampt.tk(GTAStunting) was first started. Barney might be able to give us a definate date.
April 3, 2004 is the first date Google has recorded as ampt.tk existing.

Before we do anything, we need to find the beginning date or at least come up with a date that everyone can agree with.
