Basic Drifting Tutorial

----------------------------

Advanced

----------------------------

Now for the advanced part, here im going to show you what you need to edit your hndling line, how to change wheel size and how to install a custom car.

1st off editing the handling line, i recommend using the SA handling editor for this >link<

Open this and copy the file path of your handling.ide *you can find it in the text bar at the top of the folder its in* then add \handling.cfg
then select a vehicle from the drop down bar at the top i suggest editing max velocity and engine acceleration *engine acceleration being torque which is how fast the wheels spin and max velocity being the top speed of the car* increase them little by little maybe 10 at a time or so.

Also the general tab numbers can seriously effect the handling of the car though i haven't really played with these i just used a drifting line and editing it so i suggest doing that.

----------------------------

Installing A Custom Car

----------------------------

Ok for this your going to need Img tool >link<

Ok using ImgTool open your gta3.img which you'll find in the models folder, press f2 and search for your vehicle once you've found them right click on the txd then click replace the find your custom car's txd which can be downloaded from may places such as >link<
then replace the dff in the same way as the txd, close imgtool and start your game.

----------------------------

Editing Wheel Size

----------------------------

Ok now for editing the wheel size.

I use notepad for this, just open your handling.ide in notepad and edit the 2 numbers in brackets, they are the front wheel size and the rear wheel size.

Code: [Select]
BANSHEE     1400.0    3000.0   2.0    0.0 0.0 -0.20 70  0.75 0.89 0.50     5 200.0 33.0 10.0 R P     8.0   0.52 0 34.0      1.6  0.10  5.0   0.30 -0.15 0.5  0.3         [0.15 0.49] 45000     2004
Increase and decrease them by about 0.1 each test.

People use handling mods to drift? =|
Another reason it shouldn't be considered "cool".

^You really shouldn't speak about modding. I think it's acceptable to mod in GTA drifting, because...well, it isn't hard to drift, it's just for show...

Why can't I speak my mind about modding, exactly?

Thought you needed the handling to drift in the first place, as the cars are basically glued to the ground.
