FF15 GFX - Agni's Philosophy
« on: September 09, 2012, 02:46:36 PM »
Dunno if anyone posted this earlier. However, take a look.

Square Enix presented their Luminous engine with this at the E3 this year. Yoshihisa Hashimoto confirmed a Final Fantasy game with graphics of this quality already for not too far future. The engine is PC optimized and PS3/XBOX360 are too weak for this already, therefore there's hope for a PC version as well. Rumors also say FF15 would be in development for 4 years already and that Square Enix want to pull off something for their 25th anniversary.

Here are some screens and a video. You can find more on this site: http://www.agnisphilosophy.com

Agni's Philosophy -- FINAL FANTASY REALTIME TECH DEMO

Personally I don't think FF15 will look this sick as one would really need some ridiculous hardware. I guess it's just a sneak peak to show what the engine would be capable of. But we'll see what the next console generation will come up with.

Well they wouldn't limit themselves to a PC only release (I know you didn't say that) so there's little doubt it will be an Xbox720/PS4 release. They'll need to really pull something special out of the bag for this one, because FF titles have been waning both in popularity and suitable execution. I think they need to drop the emo element, which has been way too strong lately, in their FF releases and get back to more macho heroism like in VI.

The old classics are great, but my favorites are VII, IX and X (I played all of them execpt I, II, III XI, XIV and XIII-2).

That trailer looked awesome, I'm stoked! I hope they will make a game as awesome as the three I mentioned above.

FF cut-scenes have always been fucking beastly. This one looked epic as well, too bad I can't stand the FF gameplay to actually play the games.  :|

Also not sure whether the game will look like this or just the cut-scenes, because even though FF cut-scenes have been great looking the games haven't been close to that quality.

Yea, I also fear it'll disappoint gameplay wise. Hopefully they'll make up for the recent ones and make a step forwards on that aspect. I am also rather digging the classics, no matter how bad the graphics are for these days, they're still fun. It is mentioned that the scenes of that engine tech demo were rendered in real-time, therefore they actually could make it entirely look like that, but heavy hardware would be required obviously. Next gen consoles might be able to handle, but I still guess they'd reduce the graphics generally or just keep that level for cut-scenes.
Regardless of what the next FF is gonna look like, I guess this tech demo is a sweet preview of what technically can be done.
