I had a bit of a fuckup and now VC, LC and SAiVC all don't start anymore. For SAiVC, it just doesn't start (no idea why). For LC and VC, I get a "Cannot find 640x480 video mode". Does anybody have an idea how I could fix this?
I didn't have any problems yesterday, but I did try to load up Myriad Islands (mapmod), which crashed. Tried to play a bit of regular VC but obviously that didn't work.
Tried and failed:- Deleting gta_vc.set (duh)
- Replacing gta_vc.set with one with higher resolution (Google suggested this,
still get same error for some reason)
- Rebooting (duh)
- Re-installing (completely clean install does the same)
- Change compatibility mode (XP+SP2/SP3, 98)
- System restore
- Running windowed in 3D analyzer (won't work)
I'm guessing I'm missing something overly obvious.
UPDATE
OK, so I should be able to fix this error by replacing the gta_vc.set. However, I still can't get VC to launch.

If it's checking for 640x480 and can't find it then force it into 640x480 and if that works hopefully you can then change the res in the options and disable 640x480 :)

Well, no longer getting the 640x480 error but now it simply won't start (like SAiVC)
-
What's your specs? Could be a graphic driver issue or something along those lines.
Or try AllBeast's VC: http://www.mediafire.com/download/j8a10zqys88sb3l/GTA+VC.7z (http://www.mediafire.com/download/j8a10zqys88sb3l/GTA+VC.7z)

Probably want to delete that link.
Drivers should be fine, no updates and no problems with that earlier on. Also, just figured out it wasn't due to that fix that it didn't work, but rather a different gta_vc.set I used. Still, VC, LC and SAiVC simply don't boot. Nothing in task manager either.
Intel Celeron Dual core, 2.16 GHz
4GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics video card
Shit yeah, but gets the job done.
AllBeast's has the same issues.

The 640x480 thing makes me think it's a display thing. Are you playing on an external monitor or tv or something because if they don't support 640x480 that would explain why it can't find it. If you can set the display output of your screen/monitor to 640x480 and see if it runs.
Failing that, I'm all out of ideas. Did it happen right after MI? MI crashes every once in a while but it's never caused any significant problems for me.

Simple laptop screen, doesn't support 640*480. But like I mentioned, I stopped getting that error when I put a different gta_vc.set in.
-
What res do you wanna run VC at?
-
Uuhhh, I think I had it at 1280 * 768, no idea if * 16 or * 32 though. I typically don't change it.

Both from my VC with Dannye's which runs fine. If they don't work then I have no idea.

Getting closer - booting but getting unhandled exception. Probably only a compatibility error remaining.
EDIT:
WORKING
-
Finally :P Glad its working!
-
Yeah, thanks a bunch man! Was afraid my VC was fucked, but it turned out well :)
-
My guess is all the .set files you d/led were from legit copies of VC whereas mine were from ones with Dannye's SCM so maybe that's what fixed it.
Now go land stuff for CV :P
