SA Un-Modded Video Releases / Flashback 2
« on: February 26, 2007, 12:26:49 AM »
i finally had the time to make this compilation. these are my favorite stunts done on the PC version of SA from the time it was released until i retired from stunting a year ago. all clips appear as they did in the vids they're taken from. i didn't add any effects or transitions and i didn't try to remove any, just added text overlays to identify which vids each clip is from. i didn't put a lot of effort into the editing, i just wanted to get it done. so i concentrated mainly on synching the music (it's a little off at the end though. oh well, like i said, i just wanted to get it done). so no fancy editing here, just a compilation of stunts.

stunts were taken from the following vids:
Killing Time
Uprising
TimeCrash
Supersonic
As One
Amped
Liberty City Reloaded
Overwatch
Relentless
Overwatch 2

XSA Chat & News / Retirement
« on: April 26, 2006, 11:52:08 PM »
Well, the time has come for me to hang up my hat. It's been a year and a half since I started stunting and I've pretty much had my fill of it. I've completely lost interest in not just stunting but in GTA itself. I've played GTA games so much in the last couple years that I'm sick of it to the point where I probably won't be playing any GTA games for a while, and obviously that means I won't be stunting. As it is I haven't stunted or played GTA in almost 3 months now and I still don't have any intention of picking it up again anytime soon. I actually made my decision to retire from stunting a couple months ago but didn't say anything because I wanted to make sure that it wasn't just a break that I needed. I didn't want to announce my retirement only to start stunting again a month later. When I released "Relentless" in February I knew that it would probably be my last solo vid and the more I thought about it being my last solo vid I started wondering if it would be my last vid of any kind. However, I have a few old leftover stunts that will be in the upcoming XSA crew vid. But after that it will probably be a long time, if ever, before I appear in a vid again (unless I make a vid with leftover mediocre stunts, but probably not). I won't say that I'm never gonna stunt again, because I know things could change and one day I may get interested in stunting again, but right now I have no desire to stunt anymore and I'm pretty sure that this is the real deal rather than just a phase since it's now been almost 3 months and I still have no interest in stunting.

The release of the PS3 GTA probably won't matter (to me) since I won't be able to afford a PS3, and it will probably be at least another year and a half before there's a PC version.

All in all I had a blast stunting over the last year and a half and I have no regrets about it. I appeared in 24 stunt vids, and helped pioneer SA stunting when it was only available on PS2 (hence the "Godfather of SA Stunting" title which sounded better than "Grandfather of SA Stunting", despite me being an old man, which some people may have taken a little too seriously and decided that it made me arrogant). I never claimed to be the best SA stunter, just the hardest working SA stunter. I couldn't have done it without people like Gotups, who was my partner in crime during the PS2 days; Kaneda, who was a source of inspiration and advice; Nitzkit, who was a source of goofing off :P ; and of course my XSA crewmates whom I am proud to have stunted with. XSA was the first SA stunt crew and will always be the best (imo). But then again it's not a competition so don't take that the wrong way. Also, thanks to ATS (yes even the members who don't particularly care for me) for being a source of inspiration and for letting me guest star in one of their vids (which was a big deal to me since I didn't stunt in VC very much and only appeared in 2 VC vids, their's being the first). I'd also like to thank everyone that has supported me and said nice things about my vids. Whether you're a veteran stunter or a beginner, encouragement and praise will make everyone a better stunter. To anyone that I may have argued with at some time, don't sweat it. I'm stubborn and somewhat short tempered at times, by nature unfortunately. ah well, no hard feelings. :)

Now that I've thoroughly bored you :P I'll just conclude by saying that I'll still visit the forums now and then, and if anyone ever wants to get a hold of me just PM me (I have it set up to email me anytime I get a new PM).
I'm sure there will be other stuff I think of later that I wanted to say, but right now I need more coffee and a smoke.

R.I.P. Buzzsaw, a pioneer of SA stunting and the original SA p2b whore.

5 things to remember...
1. stunting is not a competition. "support your fellow stunters", as Neo would say.
2. to be a good stunter you need the 3 P's: Practice, Patience, and Persistence.
3. DON'T CHEAT (by using performance enhancing mods and not mentioning them in the credits for your vid)
4. DON'T CHEAT AND THEN LIE ABOUT IT. you can't fool experienced stunters with performance mods. trying to fool everyone just makes you look stupid. it's also an insult to the honest stunters who put a lot of time and effort into stunting.
5. never look at your asshole in the mirror. it will freak you out.

SALC Beta 4 InstallationVC2SA Beta 1 InstallationOld Topic Post:
SALC Installation
the readme for SALC isn't very detailed and can confuse some people, so here's a detailed guide to installing SALC that i wrote.

1. Extract the SALC installation zip to any folder.
2. Make a duplicate of your GTA San Andreas folder (rename it SALC or whatever).
3. Run SA Map Cleaner with the default settings (make sure you choose the SALC directory rather than the original SA directory).
4. Open SAMI and click "Install Mod". Now change the "San Andreas Directory" setting to the SALC directory, then change the "Mod Location" setting to "Folder" and browse to the folder where you extracted the SALC installation files, then click "Continue" and "Install". This will install the SALC radar map fix.
5. Run the SALC installer (make sure you install it to the SALC directory).
warning about SAMI: whatever you do, do not install it in your SA directory because when you go to uninstall SAMI it will also uninstall SA. :side:

SALC beta 3 Details
  • the map is complete.
  • there are collision files missing on certain buildings, just like in VCLC (not sure if they're missing in the same places though).
  • physics and handling are identical to SA.
  • replays work fine.
  • all non-main.scm mods i've tried so far work ok (custom carcols, custom TXDs, SACC, Replay Removed).
  • crappy claude model is used, however cj model (w/ white tanktop, jeans, no muscle) appears in reps.
  • no clothing options.
  • no peds or traffic.
  • some of the light poles are indestructible.
  • you need to make a duplicate of your SA installation just like when installing VCLC.
  • SALC shares the same "user files" folder as SA.
  • no taxi boost. (Dannye has made a main.scm that includes taxi boost)
  • no mod shops.
  • to set the weather with SACC you have to uncheck the weather box and then re-check it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SAVC Installation
  • Copy your SA folder (or install it to a new folder) and name the folder "SAVC"
  • Run SA Map Cleaner on your SAVC folder (download: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=198101 )
  • Download the SAVC mod - ==> SAVC @ Filefront <== - (this includes 3 seperate .rar's which you need for the installation)
  • Extract the 153MB one into the SAVC folder:
  • Extract the 9MB one:
  • Extract the 8MB one:
  • Copy SACC and whatever trainer you use into the SAVC folder
  • Click gta_sa.exe and select New Game
If it doesn't work try again. Seriously, the first time Kert and me tried it it didn't work. The second time it did.[/spoiler]

XSA Video Releases / The Lost PS2 Stunts
« on: January 07, 2006, 07:32:12 AM »
i had a bunch of old PS2 clips on my hard drive that i forgot about. so i decided to make a short vid with them to practice editing and just so i could say i used them. :P

don't expect much from the stunts, they were never used because they're mediocre, glitches, or were used by other people.

i can now say that the book has finally been closed on the PS2-SA era forever. for me, at least. :D

i've made a "best of" type vid from the vids i made during the PS2-SA days. i didn't put a lot into the editing. i'm not big on effects so i just concentrated on syncing. besides, there's really not a whole lot you can do with PS2 vids.

stunts were taken from the following vids:
Gasoline
Adrenalized
Adrenalator
AdrenalEnd
Synergy
Here to Stay
Gasoline 2

SA World Records / Should wheelies & stoppies be removed from WRs?
« on: July 18, 2005, 12:37:06 PM »
more and more it's being realized that wheelies and stoppies can go on forever and don't require a lot of skill and have become yawners. here's what some have had to say about it in the WR thread recently...

Quote
i got 19min and 21 sec on ps2 and the distance was 6400m or something. it really easy on ps2 coz u can hold a certain angle and with that anglt u wount lose speed and u can keep on going forever, i just fell asleep doing that record and thats why i only got 19min.

Quote
i think i know what you're talking about. i realized last night that you can just accelerate enough to pull up a little and then just hold down and left/right and go in circles, without even holding the gas, and basically do a wheelie forever. i don't know about anyone else but i personally have lost interest in wheelies and stoppies because there's no challenge. you can go on and on forever sometimes, and it's more like a matter of seeing who can tolerate prolonged boredom more than seeing who has the most skill.

Quote
yeah those wheelie records are getting pointless coz there is so many ways to do endless wheelies and stoppies. maybe they should be taken from the record list?? but its not my desicion, just a thought...

Quote
I agree. It's not the same as in VC (although there was a really easy way to wheelies for fucking ever with a faggio at the airport)

They just seem alot easier now with the introduction of SA's changed physics. Height, distance, rotation, flips, etc..... are much more interesting. I'm sure there's other WR's we can come up with too.

feel free to make suggestions for new categories, too. :)

XSA Video Releases / Killing Time
« on: June 23, 2005, 11:54:31 PM »
here's a collab from Juan and i. our first vid since leaving the PS2 behind. this was my first time editing a PC vid, which was interesting to say the least. some of Juan's stunts have close angles and the replay text. that's because he recorded some of them without realizing you could zoom out, and then he deleted the reps. stupid PC n00b. :P

both of us are p2b whores (if you haven't noticed from previous vids, lol), so you can expect to see a lot of those in this vid. Juans skills continue to skyrocket, meanwhile i've got FOUR new techniques introduced in this vid: packer-to-treebump (p2tb), faggio stoppiegrab, faggio backwards stoppie, and quad pole bump. the p2tb opens the door to a shitload of new roof jumps. the faggio stoppiegrab is just like the bmx stoppiegrab only it's harder to do. the faggio backwards stoppie only works on very steep hills. the quad pole bump isn't anything to get excited about, but at least it's a change of pace.
