Title: Props from the founder
Post by: Andyroososoft on January 15, 2013, 12:07:47 PM
It's hard to believe this place is still going since I started :aMpT:, followed by the :aMpT: video database & forums, and then finally GTAStunting.... I guess that whole shindig started back when I was 13, so a good 9 or so years ago. I started a few more gaming discussion boards since I left for university, that have since been successful but life tends to get in the way of babysitting forums full of 9-14 year olds, haha. At least this place always had a much wider demographic.

Props to all the admins & mods for keeping this place going, and even linked in with the RockstarNexus network, which is pretty cool. I still remember the old days when all I did was get home from school, and spend virtually all day trying to make this place better and better (not to mention dealing with DOS attacks, meltdowns, and hosting worries)... it was all worth it for the community, some of whom I eventually met in person. The skills I learned from making videos, web designing, managing staff, and dealing with community members has since landed me a career in web design and mobile marketing - so all that time spent in front of the computer certainly didn't go to waste... well, I'm sure a good part of it did  ;D

I wish to extend a hand to all the staff here, and all the forum members who continue to push the artistic possibilities of video games to create incredible new kinds of multimedia and content. Imagination, creativity, and a dynamic sense of community always drove these forums to new heights, and I pray that this kind of prosperity continues for you all.

Sincerely - - Andrew (Andyroososoft)

More importantly, thank you for creating this place. I've spent most of my teenage years on this forum and it had a great part in shaping and forming the person I am today. This forum really has become part of my life.

First of all I'd like to thank you for creating this community and tutoring it. It is nice to see that you still care about this place and even nicer to see that the majority of the experiences you've had with it actually shaped your skills for your further work/calling, which basically proves (once again) that everything we work hard for pays off - sooner or later. Who knows whether there would have been a similar community to this one without your initiative - what I know, though, is that it has been bringing along many people who share the same interest(s) and has given us a possibility to socialize in a special manner.  Once again thank you, I wish you the best of luck with your career.

I just can't ever think about you anymore without having that picture of you and Matt flashing around in my head since the day Torque posted it lol :( Good to see you checking in again, must be fun to see that what you came up with almost 10 years ago is still up and running hehe. Running towards the end though, but still running. Good to hear from you, peace. : ]

All I gotta say is that this forums had a great impact (if not THE IMPACT) in my life and where I'm standing right now.

Props!

Holy fuck it's Roo, nice to see things panning out for you. Do you know what MisguidedAngel has been up to? He was one badass motherfucker. I can relate to the worries of hosting this site, Aries and I had a lot of difficulties with it as well. Luckily, we seem to have found a stable home, so everything worked out in the end.

PS: if I recall correctly, you met Aries once right? I can vaguely remember some pics of you two drunk as hell, good times.

Mr. Roo, very nice to see ya checkin up on this place again. I too would like to thank you for creating :aMpT:, now GTAStunting and for all the opportunities to become a member of the staff here. From a forum of barely 100 members when I joined to what this community has grown into. For also inspiring me when I first learned to stunt. Watching :aMpT: crew videos drove me to try harder to push the limits of stunting. Even after 9 years I still find myself addicted to stunting  :P and yes, pun intended.

There was a discussion awhile ago on when exactly you first created the forums. Any chance you remember?

Sometimes the smallest things can result to big things.

So you're the founder of GTAStunting? I've always wondered who he was. :)
And special triple thanks to you for creating this place, it's really changed some lives. So it did to mine too, where you mentioned what you learned - I did too.

Really thank you a lot, I've never knew what would I be without this place - not just a game to me.

Cheers man, without you I probably wouldn't have met all the people I've met across the internet, wouldn't be able to talk english like I am today and would have probably spent less time on the computer (that's not bad :P)

There was a discussion awhile ago on when exactly you first created the forums. Any chance you remember?

It's hard to say at this point, considering it went through a few different phases (and meltdowns)

It started with the :aMpt: Stunt Archives (a few months after my first video Vice From Hell) which were hosted by forumer.com sometime in late 2003 or early 2004, which when they became popular, I realized that there was a need for some official forums - so I found some hosting with Canaca.com (they sucked balls) in early 2005... and thus there became GTAStunting.com (The domain name I guess wasn't renewed after I left, and is now on sale for a stupid amount of money).

Here's a link to see the grand re-opening of the forums in 2005 (yes, you were around then - I see a post from you in the chat on the bottom) http://web.archive.org/web/20051026171219/http://www.gtastunting.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6006 (http://web.archive.org/web/20051026171219/http://www.gtastunting.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6006)

And here's the oldest look at the :aMpT: Stunt Archives I can find: http://web.archive.org/web/20040611020629/http://amptstunting.1.forumer.com/ (http://web.archive.org/web/20040611020629/http://amptstunting.1.forumer.com/)

You can browse around on the bar at the top to see all the different generations the forums went through. I would say that the GTAS community started in the :aMpT: Stunt Archives. From looking at that oldest archive, it appears that this place officially started between February and March of 2004, making us around 9 years old.

Thanks Andy for the links. I never would have imagined anything of the old forums existed out there.
What a flashback to look through those again, to see so many names I remember from those days.
Brought back some great memories, thanks for that  ;)

For the noobs here:

GTAS used has been hosted from the gtastunting.COM domain in the past. However, several server moves and budget restraints have led to us currently being hosted through gtastunting.NET

Nice to see the creator coming back for a look at how his creation still holds. :P Those links you posted are awesome, really nice to see some of the old GTAS history I didn't get to witness. Can't believe you created this place when you were only 13 years old, but nice to see it got you a career in the end haha.

Good luck with whatever you do in life, and I hope we can see you pop back in every now and then. :)
