Read-Only problem
« on: August 16, 2010, 01:47:48 AM »
I can't import anything into VC or LC with IMG tools because of Read-Only ticked, I right click the whole folder of VC/LC, click properties and uncheck Read-Only, press apply, close it and re-open properties and Read-Only is ticked again. Any suggestions guys?

Tried going into the folder, selecting everything and then unticking it?

Why the heck would I post the problem here if I haven't tried googling it? I tried almost all of the given suggestions from the results and none helped. :cheersad:

...why aren't you telling in the first post which methods you've tried so people know which ones not to propose? Also just so you know your problem ain't anything unique, you'll find the solution by browsing the search results. Guaranteed.

By the way never get against people who are trying to help you in case you want to actually get helped. At least don't when they're handing out the solution to your problem.

lol
I don't know if that was pointed towards my lmgtfy-link but try to come up with something a bit more creative next time.

I'm helping the guy out. Just because the solution ain't brought to him on a golden plate doesn't mean he couldn't find it out himself by reading out the Googled threads.

I didn't ask for any solutions on a golden plate mind you, I clearly requested for suggestions and for a reason too,  I honestly don't need your instructions to use Google. Also, the cause of not being able to import stuff into VC/LC using IMG Tools wasn't related to Read-Only, I somehow managed to fix it some other way no thanks to you and Google. Good day. :)

Alright what was the problem then and how did you fix it? That's what you always write to these kind of topics so if others face it they'll know what to do.

That's the thing, I have no idea. IMG Tools has been preventing me from importing things into VC/LC for over a week now, it either somehow fixed itself, or I unintentionally did something. I assumed it was Read-Only because like many people, I ran into it with Vice City a long time ago and at that time Daffy suggested opening up the properties of the whole installation folder and unticking Read-Only, and it worked, but this time, the problem hit me in LC too and unticking Read-Only didn't help. Wish I knew the solution but it works now so it's a plus point situation anyway.

If its in an admin access folder (7), you gotta unlock the whole main folder. Was having this issue, till i tried this out, and worked.
