RSS Feed Reeders

I have recently got myself 'Sage' a rss feed reader the is incorporated into my firefox browser. Ive decided to get it because I have found that there are some websites I check up on very regularly and I noticed that if I could subscribe to their rss feed I wouldnt have to load up their pages every time I browse around but instead just check if they have any new headlines based on their rss feed. Im finding it very useful and a big time saver

I was just wondering how widespread their use is and if other people use rss feed readers or another similar system?
What have your experiences been?
