The only difference I have noticed in Vegas 8 that makes it suck is the interface. They flipped it so the preview box is on top, like most other video editing software. I dislike it.

What do you think makes Vegas 8 suck?

Can't you move the panels into your preferred spot, like in Vegas 6?

If not, VEGAS 8 IS BLOW.

At first I hated the fact that the preview windows is on the top, but finally it's more comfortable
If you want to make the interface look like in the previous Vegas' :

Options / preferences / display / display timeline at bottom of main window (change it)

First of all Vegas 8 is completly Vista supportable and Vegas 7 is not
Second thing is that most of new features that were added into Vegas 8 are DVD and Blu-Ray stuff, nothing else.

So if you're searching for the smooth and stable editing program for XP, use Vegas 7.
It also have alot of plugins that weren't converted for Vegas 8
