After reading your comments, I can't help but feel this is a misunderstood album all around. Simply put and despite the shortness, this is a HUGE album. There's the obvious industrial influence a la Coil (cut up guitars, ominous synths, that esoteric feel), the black metal leanings (although I'd say on a superficial level) and a certain post-rock feel (perhaps because of the build ups and how the drums are played/where they're set in the mix?), which I feel many people look past. Then there's other aspects, such as the improvisation. But unlike say, free jazz, it feels calculated while maintaining that free-form feel. In fact, this is an album that comes and goes. You're not given set structures or riffs that repeat themselves, instead it plays out more like a piece of ambient music in terms of spontaneity. Mysterious, esoteric, distant and enchanting, Murmuüre is a bizarre creation.
