WH Chat & News / Dear GTAS

Good [insert fitting word depending on current location], GTAS!

At the time of writing this precise sentence the time is 1:25AM and the date is the 26th of June, 2013. The latest video by Wasteland Heroes ”Doperide IV” has now been out for about 16 hours.

Walking down my own Memory Lane I try to find my way back to the start of my stunting career. What a sentimental trip this is... I see myself beginning the school I just happily graduated from, I see the time I got a basketball kicked to the jaw, I see the first time I saw the girl I am now in a relationship with and all this is all well but a couple of blocks in front of me I see a trail. The trail turns right and continues along the road I just walked. I look down at the beginning of the trail and I see something on the ground, it's a letter. I open the letter and read this confusing message ”all you had to do was follow the damn train, CJ”.

Sentimental and nostalgic or dumb and pathetic but that event, picking up San Andreas, has changed my life. I remember the first time I tried to grind. I didn't even know stunting was a thing so I thought this new method of driving onto a fence with the NRG and then balancing by leaning was a genius move on my side! About a month later I saw my first ”proper” stunting video, Burning Out, a timelimited video organized by Shadowsniper. After I saw that video I knew I had a long way to go. After this debutwatch I stumbled upon several videos by TMS, XSA and GLS who at the time were the true masters of san andreas. My interest for SA was definitely the dominating part since I had never played VC and after some time in the world of stunting (mainly as a member on TheGTAZone) I released my first videos. They were released about a year apart and I am still proud of the finisher in The New Beginning.

CaBaDaBooM Stunts

The New Beginning

The time that followed is in my mind a big blur. I recall joining XSC, becoming friends with people. Seeing PtRvY's XSC audition where he used a modded VC bike. The memories, man... Some time after joining XSC I remember signing up to the place where all the pros hung out, at GTAStunting.net. This was the place. I felt like an amateur actor walking around in Hollywood dreaming of all the greatness that surrounded me. I would during this time grow in all kinds of ways. This forum showed me why the internet can be such a great tool for friendship but also a great tool for those constantly looking to spread their own hatred and suffering onto others. The tough competetition immediately increased my anxiety concerning my own level and I started to get high standards, maybe too high for the time being. So high in fact that the solo I started working on at the time (around 2007) was released as the video Plug & Play in late 2011. As I mentioned, most things in my memory just blur together and right now I'm trying to summarize this blur as much as I possibly can but somewhere around this time I joined SS (not the Nazis) and got an interest for VC a lot more than earlier after landing the finisher for Power Cut.

[SS]Power Cut (not muted anymore?)

Plug & Play

After Plug & Play I just stopped. The criticism for the video was pretty good and at times a lot better than I had expected so I was pretty happy with what I had accomplished. I had mentally quit stunting by this time. Fast foward a bit and I get a PM from Daffy inviting me to join WH. This PM ignited a spark that turned into a flame larger than I could've ever imagined. Wasteland Heroes... THE crew. Exodus. Gazuntei. Avalanche. Ethereal. I would be a part of all that. But the idealistic image I had quickly changed. Not for the better nor for the worse to be frankly honest but for a more realistic image. Wasteland Heroes were seen by many as modders, liars and well... douchebags. I couldn't fathom why. During my time on the forum I've never met such genuine people who shared a passion for stunting. The same passion I had. WH had organized a VC video and I felt that this was my time to shine. I started to frequently skype with Stevex and we shared spots and tried them together which completely changed my boring lonely spottrying to something social and eventful. We talk and joke and do whatever the fuck it is we do while trying the spots that 90% of the forum think are impossible.

The people who suspect me of modding probably won't change their minds but during my time in WH this far I have learnt how extremely underestimated the vice city engine is and how you when all variables align can get the hugest of airtimes or the sickest of grinds and it saddens me that almost none of you reading this will even remotely understand what I'm trying to say. Call me elitist but the only mod I've been using and will ever need is the internal mod in my head that keeps me trying a stunt for several weeks, months and sometimes years.

This text is in most ways just utterly pointless but for me it isn't. Stunting has always been a journey parallelled with my life and it bears great importance for me but the release of Doperide IV and the best stunts I've landed is met with either very positive criticsm which I highly appreciate or modaccusations. Believe it or not but I'm not one to express fury but this time I find it impossible not to. People claim stunting is dying and you, the constantly doubting community is the fucking reason. The people who push the boundaries are ignored and accused while the motherfucker who grinds a ledge followed by landing a fucking golfcart is praised. What in the fucking fuck are you doing, you stupid ignorant self-centered fucking cunts? When a stunt you can't land gets landed it's modded. You fucking disgust me. If you have a reason for accusing, good job, you qualify to the land of the living. If you just accuse because you just think it's a bit ”off”, go fuck yourself.

Funfact: At the beginning of this text I told Stevex on Skype that ”I'll tell them to fuck off but in a nice way”. That ended well.

You people haven't so much ruined my experience as much as you've made me focus on something else, on my own satisfaction of landing a stunt and that is precisely how I want to end this text, positively. I couldn't be happier with my performance in this video. Some of the stunts I've landed are even to me mindbaffling and I didn't think they were possible until I stood up there.

Many of you are fucking douchebags but many of you also aren't and to you I say thank you so much for the lovely time I've had and hopefully the time to come.

On the first bump there's an obvious boost right as you go in the air it seems.
First of all... You say the boost is obvious and yet you end the sentence with "it seems". It feels as if you are just looking for reasons to accuse me by now which actually saddens me a bit. If you really don't trust me, I welcome you to PM me and I'll try to explain anything you find unclear.

If anyone has any accusations pending, I welcome you to Skype with me right now, add Davvda.

Oh hey Davve I actually have a question to you.

Why exactly did you use this runup on your LV natbump and not the other road?
Any special reason or was it just personal preference?

I slid off a couple of times using the other road, but stopped trying it as soon as somebody told me that you landed it.
I actually tried it from the other side more than from this side but in the end I think the little grassy ramp made it easier to control the wheelie. I landed this stunt by leaning upward right at the grassy thingy and then not leaning at all, just letting the bikes weight lean into the bump. Once you figure this bump out it isn't at all very difficult. I overflew the two red towers several times before landing it. I sort of get the problem with my particular stunt because when I wheelied over the grassy ramp and started turning to early resulting in me sliding. If the bump had been further away I would've bailed but I managed to keep it up and bump it. Hope the explanation satisfies your curiosity, Sava!

I noticed you reacted quite badly at Daffy's attitude (?) earlier, Scary Window, and I feel that this is kind of the same problem. You see... Social growth is defined by ways of adapting ones attitude to the one you are socializing with. My sarcasm comes from the fact that you just spent time editing a video with two stunts that are both below 150ft and they both have a runup of more than 1000ft. You try to prove that I mod by showing said stunts from different angles (thanks for that btw, nice for the ego) while slowing down at certain points. I have already replied too much in this thread but I'd like to finish by saying one thing. I'm getting really sick of people shoving their own stupidity and ignorance down other people's throats.

First stunt, what exactly are you trying to pinpoint?

Second stunt, fuck... you got me... I have a mod that makes me slide on the ground without friction just to give me a tougher challenge when stunting.

Man, you sure are the pinnacle of evolution...

The fact that the stunters are my crewmembers make me a little bit nicer, Diaz. Not to Stevex though, he fucking sucks.

I just gotta say Demon deserves more praise than he's gotten so far, that 150ft P2B to precision is one most the most ridiculous stunts ever done in my book.

This. Even though I doubt the legitimacy of nearly every WH stunt done in the past few years, even with mods this will be a tough fucker.

That being said, and stressing the fact I've doubted the legitimacy of nearly every WH stunt the past few years since that hasn't changed.

Some very cool stunts like Demon's taxi precision and Daffy's wallride 2 wheelie 2 grind and his BB landing, liked Ralleee's stuff (good to see you back in action?).

Liked most stunts but Davve's P2B at the LC police station is one of the stunts I simply don't think is possible. It looks OK in the video but for some reason looks off in the clip he posted. Even if it's just my eyes, from the experience I've gotten in stunting over the past 8 or 9 years I'll have to say I don't believe this. I don't need a response to this, nor do I want one and it'll fall on deaf ears.

Some cool grinds in this vid as well btw, even though I'm not a fan of ledgegrinds I'll have to admit that little spinflipthing 2 grind at the bridge near the Malibu by MaCi was sweet.
It's 173ft high. Deaf ears or not, you can't have tried this stunt during your 8-9 years stunting experience. The runup is great since the downhill before it gives you a perfect rad. I landed this stunt while skyping with Eddeman and Stevex but that wouldn't matter since you probably doubt their legitimacy aswell.

Here are my replays from this video for all who doubt the legitimacy of my stunts for whichever reason. And if anyone else has any accusations, please don't follow them up by being fucking cunts turning a deaf ear for any defenses. Fuckin' hell...

Wow, shit, great video. Davves doublebump2grind was my favourite. Oh, Ralleee, how high was that bump at 3:23?
Funfact: I landed that grind on my third try.

As mentioned it's 186ft but the finisher is 190 so it wins the heightwar by a few feet.

I knew which stunts this video would contain and I knew who was going to edit it and yet when I saw it I couldn't help getting shocked. The fact that I've been more or less talking to everyone involved in this video insuring me of its legitimacy makes it one of the best VC videos I have seen and possibly one of the best videos ever.

If I might egotalk a bit I'd like to say that this video didn't improve my stunting in any way but it improved my attitude towards it. More than 50% of the time I stunted I was trying the spots while talking to Stevex or someone else on Skype which I had never done before. WH, for me, added an enhanced social part to stunting which helped me land some of the best stunts I believe I have ever landed.

Hard to mention standouts in a vid where more than half the stunts could be finishers in any other random collab but Stevex' finisher deserves as much praise as it has gotten and will get because fuck you, Stevex, I hate you for landing that. Demon's p2b to precision was a stunt I thought no one would try because precisions with a lot of height in VC? Not the funniest of spots. Great job.

If someone can be bothered to make a review template I'll definitely fill that in.

Edit:

And for those who thought the angle didn't show my stunt correctly for whatever reason, here's the raw footage.

Do I believe in religion? Yes, of course I do. I think many religions act as metaphorical symbols of human morals. Look at Hinduism and compare it with Christianity, you'll notice that if you remove all esthetic aspects, all the rules and divisions within you will see that they all have the vital parts in common. Religion is just our way to embody our morals and also give some comforting thoughts to counter our fears of the unknown. We don't understand why bad things happen so we turn to something that will give us hope, be it a god or a piece of music. I don't think anyone on this forum can claim ones life to be completely free of religion. The way your culture, socity and life works is based in religion.

Do I belive in a god? No, not in the common sense. There have been moments where I've believed or hoped that a being larger than our own understanding exists but I think that we as a species can reach godlike powers if we all just dare to reach for something together. I'm not trying to sound like a bloody prophet but when you and another person realizes you're in love with eachother or when you like the same music or when you simply feel a conversation going the right way, that is god, that undefinable feeling of mutuality.

I'm in a mentally shitty position when it comes to Battlefield 4... I want to play it because I think every Battlefield game delivers what I want an FPS to deliver but it also supports the way EA works and earns its money which bothers me. DLCs released at the same time as release and Origin are huge dealbreakers but we'll see. I won't pre-order it but if it works better than 3 I'll probably buy it.

If you had to suspect any of your crew mates to mod, who would that be?
Demon.

Black or white?
In what context?

I'm offering you to swap Artifex with grescha, is that okay?
Never.

Why did you join WH?
Daffy got really drunk and it sort of snowballed from there.

Do you believe in religion and god?
Depends on the definition of a deity but generally no.

What's your PC rig?
An i5 and a GTX 560 Ti. Won't bother with everything else.

How do you Scandinavians survive the summer, hibernation?
Yes, hibernation.

It's not a stunt worth wasting time at but what the fuck makes you think it isn't possible? It's possible from both ways and it isn't even a hard spot. Just try it until you get a good vertical angle, what's the fucking dilemma?

gucci ft officer ross
wtf gucci mane

Gucci just doesn't care, he's fat, has a relatively huge ice cream cone tattooed on his face and goes to jail fairly often. Currently, he's also trying to teach Chief Keef his ways. Dude's not even 18 and does his best at not giving a fuck about video shoots, performing a show or getting arrested because of speeding with 110mph in a 55mph zone.
And on top of that makes horrible music. What a fucking dumbass.
