ABRAHADABRA
« on: September 11, 2010, 04:32:12 PM »
Dimmu Borgir's newest album. It's going out on the 27th (this month) in Europe (24th in Germany) and on the 12th October in NA. Their song, "Gateways" was released on the 20th August and is available on iTunes and some other sites (sadly I don't know which, since I've never actually bought music from the internet). The tracklist from the album:

Quote
'Xibir' (2:50)
'Born Treacherous' (5:02)
'Gateways' (5:10)
'Chess With The Abyss' (4:08)
'Dimmu Borgir' (5:35)
'Ritualist' (5:13)
'The Demiurge Molecule' (5:29)
'A Jewel Traced Through Coal' (5:16)
'Renewal' (4:11)
'Endings And Continuations' (5:58)

 I'll just paste some info.

For the second time in the band’s career (i.e. 1996’s Stormblåst), a one-word album title breaks the tradition of a three-word album title for a new studio release dating back to Dimmu Borgir’s 1994 debut, For All Tid.

Guitarist/songwriter Silenoz has this to say on the topic: "We knew there would be some big changes with this album in more than one way and since we've had the three word title tradition for many years now, we thought it'd make a lot of sense for us to move on from that. It has served its purpose. We are a band that's all about change and moving forward. An album title consisting of one word goes hand-in-hand with the new material - it describes both the musical and lyrical content in a more imaginary way, not to mention the unity and the everlasting flame which is Dimmu Borgir. Expect the unexpected!"

When asked about the central figure in the artwork and who/what he’s supposed to represent, artist Joachim Luetke responds: “I think that’s obvious. Since the whole ‘setting’ is located in an icy, bleak, winter-y, post-industrial era, we’re pretty close to H.P. Lovecraft’s nameless elder gods. They’re represented by the mask’s tentacles. In short: the mask/face personifies dominion of powers far beyond mankind. The nameless gods witnessed the birth of our universe and they’ll watch it implode. To them, the age of mankind is but a blink of an eye.”

I'm really looking forward to buy this album, also the song "Dimmu Borgir" sounds promising. :>
I can't fucking wait till the 27th.

Excepted something better, it's pretty boring overall, but their self-titled song is awesome.

Personally I don't really like Dimmu Borgir, they have a few good songs but other than that
True black metal are bands like Mayhem, Burzum, Emperor, Enslaved and so on...
I don't really like the newer black metal scene, the only one I like from it are Behemoth.

There are three albums that you must have. Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia and Death Cult Armageddon. I guess you can also listen to Spiritual Black Dimensions, but it's all a matter of taste. I personally listen to all of their albums. :)
Ask anything you like, I'd gladly help. :euro:

@Jubito, don't mention other bands without knowing anything about this one. :|

Well that's true, I don't know much about them. I like some songs they've made like Sorgens Kammer, The Serpentine Offering, Puritania, Kings Of Carnival Creation and The Sacrilegious Scorn, but other than that I don't really like the other songs, but hey thats just my opinion.
