Title: Shadowsniper needs a nudge or two - calling veteran players -
Post by: Viper on May 07, 2013, 07:27:12 PM
First, some background:

Near the close of 2008, Shadowsniper, DuKtape (player from "Impossible Hydra Stunts" - Aug 4, 2007) and myself ("Viper Tunnel" Viper) were collaborating to create a hydra stunt video.  By 2009, we had landed over thirty original hydra stunts.  Many of these stunts were of world-class difficulty; not teasing - best of the best.  If you think Shadowsniper is good with bikes, watch him fly.  DuKtape's video is old now, but consider the year it was released.  If you haven't seen me fly, it's because I took down my solo - someone saved it here: Moonlight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1p77YMQy6c#)

The stunts we landed are still to this day, in 2013, unseen world-class original stunts.  We had hoped for a completed video in the year 2009.  Shadowsniper took responsibility of editing the video.  He started working on it, and he made great progress.  Something made him stop working, however.  Periodically, I have been trying to motivate him to complete this video.  It's now been longer than four years since the initial concept of this video was discussed.

I haven't considered requesting another editor, because Shadowsniper can edit this video perfectly.  He proved that with his progress in 2009.  I have spoken to him this year, but he continues to express a lack of motivation.  Grand Theft Auto 5 is releasing this year, so any potential audience for this hydra collaboration is quickly diminishing (most of it is already gone).  I told Shadowsniper he should finish the hydra video before GTA 5 is released, but I think he needs more motivation.

The video is easily ten minutes long.  By posting this here, I'm hoping people will express interest in seeing this video materialize.  I'm sure Shadowsniper will appreciate it, if people actually care.  Veteran players will like this film.  It's professional.  Shadowsniper has all the materials he needs to make the film.  Can you guys support him?  I'm out of ideas.  Thanks...

Moonlight is one of the best flying videos I've ever seen (hadn't seen it before).

Shadowsniper please finish the video, it would be awesome. And don't think that cause it's been 4 years it has to be perfect, I just wanna see some crazy flying from some cool angles, I'm sure you won't disappoint ^^

Or if you really can't be bothered just give the project to somebody with more free time than you (though I'd like to see what you could pull off here)

I loved Moonlight, while most hydra videos are boring this one was really cool. Get Bujutzu to edit the other one as well :euro:

Never seen this video, don't know how old school I am but that edditing is some sexy shit.
The time where you could use these kind of songs without getting topic spammed.
Hmm yeah, I've pretty much always been SS' fan. Not like asslicking but more like 'defending' him.

SS' gets alot of, undeserved hate. And I don't see why. When I was worse he always helped me out, learning to stunt, giving me helpfull tips, and other stuff like that.

I like SS alot. Because he's always helpfull, nice to play with, and a nice guy overall.
Stop hating him. Hurts me pretty much. : <

I forgot these projects actually existed because I am used to him not finishing videos he edits

Just release them or give the editing job to someone you think is worthy, I am sure people would appreciate it if you release your videos for once, as they've been hyped to tremendous amounts but nothing ever comes out of it.

Stop hating him.
My post is clearly not intended to decry SS.  Not one sentence I wrote was hateful.  The purpose of this thread is to get people to say: "I would like to see SS finish this video".  People are now expressing interest in this project and others he has yet to complete, which is great.  If you know people who would enjoy a few professional GTA:SA stunt videos this year, show them this thread.

I am very happy to see people have posted so quickly.  Heartwarming!

nobody offended SS here as i find him as a nice guy, but we just said what he is doing since long time with videos he took to edit, he always shows someone 2-3 parts of those videos and we never see the final result. also i need to add you can see the *insert video ss is releasing since ever* is coming next week mayne

I would feel happy because i want to see the video. But he never releases any projects that he is working on and that's really fucked up. If it was his video only but it is not, it involves other persons. If it was me, i would just drop the project to not act so miserably unfair with other people. Pick another editor and be happy.

I can't release the 2009 four-minute draft SS edited, but it's that draft which has me convinced SS is best-suited to edit this.  Of course, the fact this video is still only a concept is very unfair, but; I'm willing to forgive that if SS pulls through before the deadline.  I won't be happy with the video if it's simply just "completed".  I want the video to have something extra; and I think repaying a four-year wait may dress up a video nicely.

It's a stunt video, not an editing video. Give the job to whoever has FRAPS and is willing to render the fucking thing for you. Stop caring about editing, 99% of the vids released these day has the same repetitive editing anyway. If your stunts truly are world class then you won't need any fancy editing for people to appreciate it.

^This.

What made stunting in the past legendary or memorable was probably the decent focus on the stunts. It's sad because any clean video that doesn't improvise editing nowadays is considered a failure (this is not a general thing btw). But, it would be cool to give the people who joined GTAS today the same feeling that they kept reading about of the past. Even if it was just freecam's with pan/crop'd movements - it will never give the same feeling as the 'high-class' doubts. Just a plain sunny weather with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Anyone thinks the same?

Paul, as Ed said - release it and don't be a perfectionist man. We are waiting bad here.  :cheersad:

I think mimicking the style of 2005 / 2006 in its entirety won't cut it.  For this video, keeping the editing basic may be good some of the time, but it's 2013.  Why not complement the presentation where you can?  I think SS is a good enough editor to bridge the gap.

Just letting you guys know, my PC broke back in the beginning of May. It's not until late in June that I got a new PC, and I've been testing it for the last week or two. I'm confident that it's stable now, so I'm back to working on my videos. Checked my PM's and a few people seem to think I'm ignoring them, but I wasn't :(. Catching up to all the news on GTAS and then I'll get to replying, just know that I haven't forgot about you.

I'm not sure who you're playing with, considering that I haven't played SAMP in about 2 months :cc_detective:. As far as the videos are concerned, more than one of them is already complete, ready to be uploaded along side two others, which are not finished. It's my fault that they're not finished, but what I have finished is awesome, and definitely worth the wait.

It would have been nice to finish everything before GTA V, but I haven't. I've got my own life, I'm nobody's slave, and I've put a lot of hours into everything I'm working on, so I'm not taking anyone's shit.

As it's bumped I only wanted to say, if you see my youtube comment from 4 years ago, I still love it. It's one of my favourite videos and not hydra videos but stunting videos in general. Your stunts are truly amazing, the song and the editing is brilliant, it's just so beautiful. I used to watch this countless times.
