Just finished watching Clannad. I really like it, somehow the tomoyo chapter was in the one I downloaded as a 24th episode, needless to say I was confused. Though I enjoyed them both immensely. I'll probably hop on after story later tonight or tomorrow :happy:The Tomoyo and Kyou chapters are simply alternate settings where Tomoya ended up with another girl instead of Nagisa. Top left = Mushishi, mid right = Aoi Bungaku, bottom right = Kara no Kyoukai movies. But honestly i doubt you will like them, if you don't like really slow paced shows.

Just completed The World God Only Knows II, it was decent, in the end it turned out to be a little funnier and romantic than the first season.I think season 1 was just incomparably much better than the second, only because of episode 12. I had high expectations of the last episode of the second season but it turned out to be a pretty normal episode. And don't go hope on a third season to be coming any time soon, apparently the sales weren't that good.

Madoka was pretty fucking amazing, the story was just dark and deep, but still lovely.
Amagami SS+ is pretty much the same as the first season, except you see the continuation of the relationships. I also watched the second last episode today - without exaggeration, best episode from SS+. Also, it's Haruka. Impossible not to love.
AnoHana was, is, and will always be one of the best anime when it comes to friendship and bonds. Also it's a real tearjerker, so prepare yourself.
Nisemonogatari was slightly worse than the first season (I was just probably missing Oshino a lot) but it's still watchable. Luckily it kept its typical Bakemonogatari style.

It might be that I'm not really "sucked" into the story, so I've not really been enjoying the last two seasons of anime as I have been before, but it might just be crappy-mediocre anime I've been watching.That's usually why I don't watch airing anime, the gap between the episodes leaves a gap. So it's harder to get in to, of course anime like Nichibros are an exception because there isn't really much to get in to. but I usually have to weekend marathon dramas to have them affect me. Usually I'll get dragged in to it, but rarely fast. Again that's why it helps marathoning it.

Maybe the many weaboos have gotten under my skin, but it seems to me that 'anime' is something many cling onto to belong to something/somewhere and is used as an excuse to brand bad stuff as "art".

There are certain Anime that you shouldn't marathon, like Mushishi and Kino no Tabi. I marathoned Kino, and I'm regretting it. Ai indeed is a really good character but imo Haruka wins by just a bit. And Kaoru's always been my least favorite of the girls, she's such a tomboy lol.Haruka was a good one, but I dunno she was a bit weird in the first season, though funny, a bit weird. My least favorite is Rihoko, mostly because she was such a boring character.
And the OVA (13th episode) is an Onsen (hot spring) episode, but I've read about people saying it'll be released later, so not this Friday. Dunno if it's true though.

The fact that it's older doesn't necessary mean that it's worse. It may be harder to get used to the animation, but believe me, it's worth it cause some older animes has exceptional plots. There are many good ones like Berserk, Technolyze, Cowboy Bebop, Initial D, Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou and many, many more.

It's a bit too romantic for my taste, but still a lovely anime. :happy:I really like that one, I don't know why but I ended up watching both seasons in two days. I've finished watching Allison and Lillia. The first half was extremely good in terms of the plot and characters develompent. The second one was a bit dull, but still watchable. It's one of those rare animes where you won't find any ecchi, blood, japanese culture marks, cursewords and such. All "bad" characters aren't even that bad. It's pure fantasy adventure with romance elements and pretty interesting concept all in all. Alright, downloaded Neon Genesis Evangelion. Another mecha, I know. Heard some pretty good thing bout it tho.
Also, when you are done with the series you'll have to watch "End of Evangelion" as well. It's a movie they made to "explain" the ending of the series as they had no budget left for the two last episodes. So the two last episodes take place in Shinji's head or something like that. The movie didn't explain shit though, but I know there is a whole wiki explaining every single little detail in the series and movie if you want to read up on it, but personally I think all the "Symbolism" stuff is kind of useless, because no matter how "deep" it is, it doesn't make me enjoy the show more.
Even though I knew how School Days finished, I had no idea it was going to be as bad as it was. It started so good, and somehow turned really shit. Alright, finished Evangelion + EoE last night... enjoyed the show overall but the ending was hands down the weirdest thing I've seen in my life. Some things kinda made sense such as the recreation of the world with Shinji and Asuka as the new Adam and Eve but still... that live-action part didn't make any sense. Either too deep or pseudo-intellectual as heck.Yeah the ending is weird as shit.

Protip, don't watch more than two episodes at a time. It's an episodic show and if you try and watch it all/half of it in one sitting it'll lose some of it's charm. Personally I didn't like it too much anyway, I think much of it hype comes from people who watched it on TV while they where still young and now they have a nostalgic feeling about it.

@Ltab Hentai could sometimes be quite harsh so that's why I personally like ecchi more.I kind of prefer Eroge when it comes to this stuff, it let's you in on great stories and have actual erotic scenes. The only problem with these Eroges are that they are extremely time consuming.
Could also try Bible Black but since that's futa I think you'll just cringe and puke yourself inside out. Some of my personal favorites are Kowaku no Toki, Mahou Shoujo Erena (tentacle) and The Pollinic Girls Attack.

You see it as extremely time consuming, I see it as a good pastime.The few Eroge's I've played have given me a better experience than most of the anime I've seen. In the same way books are better than movies, Eroges/Visual Novels are mostly better than their Anime counterparts as they are basically books, with voice actors, backgrounds and music. They might last like 20 - 40 hours, which is both good and bad in my opinion. Good part being that characters are well presented and getting to know them better and all that. Bad part is, well it takes 20 - 40hours to play through the damn thing. but best of all with Eroge, I can fucking choose what girl I want. How many times have you watched an anime and been mad at the MC for choosing the wrong girl? exceptions are ASS and Yosuga No Sora where we see each arc.

I used to, long time ago, but then I stopped because I've simply lost interst on it. I used to be a pretty big fan actually back in my childhood :lol: but I never watched something like Hentai, or relateds. That's why I decided to take a look over there, it was all because I was feeling nostalgic.
For comedy/drama, I'd recommend Angel Beats!, Clannad and Kanon. Seems like you end up liking the one you watched first the most which would be AB! in my case. Oh god all those feels...@Ltab Another tip, don't watch Clannad right away, because its the best anime you can find from comedy/drama. Watch something for start like Ano Hana and Angel Beats! like Mugi told you already.

Yo ed, as much as I agree with that anime should have a good story and whatnot, you talk as these shows that have girls with big eyes are less valuable. While many of them do have a strong plot and an intriguing story. In fact one of the anime I've seen with such big eyed girls, is easily in my top 3. Now I know you were referring mostly to ecchis with your post. And that they are pointless and a waste for the anime industry and whatnot, but to be honest the main difference between the story driven and the humor/ecchi driven shows is that when you watch a story driven show and you don't like the story, you stop right away. It's not for you, but when you watch a humor/ecchi show you can let almost everything slide as long as it's funny. Pretty much what I'm trying to say is that it's much much easier to find an watchable echhi/humor show than it is to find a story driven show that actually has a story that interests you.
As much as I love a good story I don't mind just letting my head go and laughing at silly jokes. I'm not a big ecchi fan anyway, but I think you are giving it too much hate.

You should check out Amagami SS if you like the omnibus format. Doesn't beat Toradora in terms of romance but the characters are lovely and the things they go through, you could watch anytime without feeling like "meh".

Am I being fooled by romance? Is it really like this in every movies or shows, it takes time and work when something actually happens.
I would say Spice and Wolf is on par with Toradora when it comes to romance, it's just really really different romance. Seeing as the two main character are both adults. Not that there is much cuddling or any of that sort either. It's just that the two mains have such a freaking good chemistry that make the show so fucking enjoyable. Angel Beats is also hyped... that was neither fun nor dramatic, though I probably gave it up before the dramatic parts.
Air was bad, sure it had some fun moments but all in all it was bad.
Kanon was alright, it had one good girl/arc, the rest were meh.
Clannad the first season was alright, too bad we get the worst arc right away so it's hard to keep going, but it gets worth it once you get to the better arcs.
After story is just the best one, even though the ending is a bit lame and personally I think it's a bit stupid that they never kissed, I still love it because it made me want to do something with my life and it was the first fictional thing to make me cry.

I finished Katanagatari.I'm not much of a fight person, so I liked that it was more talk than fight. And then they first fought it was short and awesome. Also, I agree on that spoiler thingy, it was somehow really hot/sweet when he fondled her hair. It was indeed sad :(

Characters were awesome, I adore people that they have someone they love and protect. Shichika and Togame were awesome couple till the very end. Cutting Togame's hair was ultimate turn off and I started to dislike her appearance after that.

Tanamachi Kaoru and maybe Nakata Sae is my favorite, every other girl had some weird split personality, even Haruka. I seriously thought she is just playing with Junichi and dumping him into trash after a while, but oh boy that escalated quickly after they went to the hotel room.

Haruka was alright, she was good looking and all, but to demanding. "lol don't kiss me on the mouth" "Lol marry me, or else I'll move to london for two weeks."
Kaoru was too much of a friend, she handled awkward or embarrassing moments with violence (if I remember correctly)
Rihoko was always complaining about how fat she was but she kept eating. And she was annoying anyway.
Sae was sweet, but her voice was just go awful and she just seemed nice. I didn't see much love there.
Tsukasa could have been a good candidate, but you know, violent.
Ai, Sweet and loving. Not too short hair, and not too long. Swimsuit. Best personality, maybe a bit needy in SS+, but I mean, who doesn't want to spend Christmas with their boyfriend/girlfriend.

Completed SAO now.
Last episode didn't hold up my expectations, but now I can say that: Season 2 confirmed.
Asuna has so little screentime in this episode when I thought the whole episode is based on Kirito and Asuna.
I secretly hoped that Asuna and Kirito would get married for real this time, fuck me right?
Instead they showed SAO players from the past and how things are going with them.
Anyways... I liked SAO arc really much, but ALO was almost thoroughly shit, so I have to give 9/10 for final score.

I mean, it didn't feel like the author was just like: "fuck I need to do something crazy for the ending" and just fuck it up. It was all in the cards, and personally I don't think the ending could have been better.

Started watching Code Geass, hate the universe/future it's set in. I don't understand the massive robots if they are just going to use massive guns or massive knives to fight. It's hilariously stupid :lol: But the interactions with the characters besides from that is your usual stuff. Some drama, some humor, some slight slice of life. So it's not as horrible as EVA was, one can actually have an episode where the robots aren't the main focus or even in it at all. That's a nice change.

Watched more today, It's getting ridiculous. HOLY SHIT A GIANT ROBOT THAT CAN FLY? Why the fuck not just use a fucking aircraft instead of a giant mech that flies and shoots a gun. So stupid. Though I still slightly enjoy the parts without the mechs, mostly the main character. He reminds me of Light, except his reasoning isn't retarded.

These genres are so strangely mixed together that one moment you find a comedy elements and next second it'll be a drama, or even a thriller, then like 15 seconds more it's already romance.I can only be reminded of Tasogare x Amnesia from those words. That was so horrible, it was supposed to be a horror kinda anime and they keep ruining it by colorful visuals with shitty contrasts and shitty obligatory fanservice.

Yeah I enjoyed it, I didn't think there was one episode that I didn't enjoy! The pace was set quite high from the beginning. Other than that I'd second both Håkon and Ed's suggestions Steins;Gate and Great Teacher Onizuka are both great ones.
Though Steins;Gate has some characters that you'd maybe dislike it's worth it in the long run.
As for GTO, it features some silly "anime humor" which I'm not sure you'd enjoy or not, but it also has these serious moments that you can't help but get caught up in.
And another one I'd recommend is, Now and Then, Here and There/Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku. It's about this guy who gets thrown into a different world and, from the synopsis, "soon discovers the true terrors of war, which includes genocide, brutal torture, hunger, thirst, and child exploitation."

I finished Pant and stocking. Gotta say it lost it's charm after 5 - 6 episodes, but the ending kind of made up for it. I wasn't entirely sure whether I would like an actual plot ending or just episodic until the end. but the actual "plot" didn't really kick halfway through the second to last episode, so it was kind of episodic, but still with a plot.
To put it plainly, the entire point of this show is to take the illusions otaku have surrounded themselves with for the last 10 years and annihilate them through a wanton, infinite assault of sex and Western style.
Guess what guys, I actually watched 25 episodes in less than 24 hours (watched most of them at work) considering I'm busy as hell nowadays. It's Sword Art Online, which was hella entertaining, at least the first part. The setting and main idea is pretty cool, never would've thought it'd hook me on that much, but it did...
It had pretty cool romance thing going, and the fights were not that bad, but on the other side of a coin it had some major plot holes and characters' emotions didn't really fit in some parts. I'd prefer SAO to be completed at once, the other half (I even forgot how it's called, Elf-something) doesn't really fill up the characters development, hell, it doesn't add anything except some whining. The only thing I liked in the other half is that it was bizarre with the crazy villain compared to the first one which was more rational.
All-in-all this anime shouldn't get more than 8/10. And no more seasons.

i only watched some episodes of higurashi no naku koro ni, planning to finish it in the next time. :) does the story continue in umineko no naku?it doesn't. tho you will understand some stuff from Higurashi if you watch Umineko like (kinda spoilers ahead) Rika and her serious mode (Bernkastel, was it?) also there are somne funny Higurashi references, like there will be a scene where a little girl is watching Higurashi in the TV. anyway it's still a completely different story, and it's more like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai (the second season of Higurashi), with shitloads of mystery and detective-like stuff. but it's almost as gory, if not even more gory than the first season. I loved it in every aspect.

There's not much plot to it, just a guy traveling the world wanting to learn shit. The show is episodic, but I'd go so far as to say that each episode has a better plot than most ecchis anyway. Anyone here watched Attack on Titans? It's really great anime.The only thing I find interesting regarding Japanese culture is their unexplainable mythology. How an umbrella would become a one-eyed monster and what not. The idea of giant humans eating people while walking around nude and smiling was incredibly intriguing, but it quickly wore out. It's like Amnesia. You're scared shitless for a few hours, then you realize it's a game and you can run around playing with the monster.

I've started watching like 6 shows at once, this season might be the best in at least a couple of years. Tokyo Ghoul, Zankyou no Terror, Ao Haru Ride so far are amazing. Though I'm in doubt about Akame ga Kill since it seemed like a dark gore anime after the first episode, but people who read the manga are saying it supposed to be a comedy (!), which don't really fit together, and Tokyo ESP because apart from nice visuals and pretty interesting setting, the plot seems pretty ripped in pieces.

finished the 16th episode of Guilty Crown, shit's going down. and it's going down fast as fuck. I like that anime so far but killing Hare just made me almost as fucking mad as Shu, I loved her most out of the girls, and looking at the way Shu is right now I am pretty sure I am going to hate him. for fucks sake did he turn into that. also what the fuck, yandere Inori? still a 9/10 for me, but if this keeps going on I might give it only a 8, even 7 if they end it the way I imagine right now.I saw that you picked it up so I decided to get it from where I left , I finished and why did Inori have to leave dude , it's fucked up I wanted 'em to stay together forever and ever yeees that would've been nice but no she has to die.

HOLY **** I've just "rewatched" Steins;Gate even though when I first watched it was back in 2010 so i couldn't really understand most of it , but oh man , what an amazing show that was,i had goose bumps all over while watching it even though the start was a little bit slow , it picked up quite fast,I'm very satisfied with the ending it was what i really wanted :rolleyes: 10/10

I think 3 episodes is a good rule to stop watching. I do that and I don't care if something magnificent happens at the end of it.that's my point, 3 episodes is kinda enough to decide if you want to watch the show, but 10 minutes is just plain dumb. my opinion though, no flamerino.

Really though, I hate Mecha, really fucking hate it. Once I realized that is what it was I turned it off and watched something else. I've learned the hard way that just because people tell you something is good, does not mean I'll enjoy it equally. So now I usually watch things I know I'll like, if I'm skeptical I stick to the three episode rule, but if I know I won't like it I turn that shit off and watch something else no matter what people say. Just like when I stopped watching Death Note when L died and just like I stopped watching Angel Beats after I realized what the setting was.

I just finished watching Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, and I gotta say I was expecting more after all the stuff I heard from this anime. people say it's a masterpiece, it's better than 10/10, but I can't help myself and give it only a 9/10, which became a 9 only at the last episode, else it would be 8. funnily enough, I don't have a single problem with the anime, it just didn't get me hooked into itself. the art was unusual but great, the characters were nice too (though I still really dislike Madoka, I don't care what anyone else says, I don't like her), and funnily enough, over the time I started disliking Sayaka but started liking Kyouko, while it was the other way around first. oh well, maybe my opinion will change once, maybe when I watch the movies, but I think this is still the effect of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, because after that I haven't watched anything for 3 weeks, up until now. don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Madoka Magica, I actually enjoyed it, but it wasn't as addictive for me as other animes. :a-cheer:

just finished the first season of Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, or Haganai for short. gotta be one of my favourite harem shows, all the characters are likable (except Yozora, I actually kinda fucking hate her), but Sena ftw though. also, it's good to see that our main character Kodaka isn't a half assed coward like MCs often are in other harems, definitely an awesome character. looking forward to watching the second season within this week!
@Dom That anime had some stupid moments i.e Kodaka's "Eh? Nandatte?" and all the bullying just hurts, but other than that it was 6/10 anime for me.he was doing that on purpose though. Yozora being an asshole all the time was pretty annoying tho, I can't help it but I really hate her, ESPECIALLY after she's cut her hair short. her long hair + stocking were really the only things that I liked about her, and even those are gone. ohwell, patiently waiting for S3.

Hunter x Hunter is great. Make sure you watch the 2011 though. anyways, the rest should watch HxH too. It's like my favorite(preferences of course) But it's good and stuff. Full of surprises and the drama doesnt have to be like a Naruto flashback or whatever yet it still give a lot of impact. Watch tokyo ghoul too, loving the series so far. I read the manga of tokyo ghoul and I cant wait for it to come out next year. :D Right now, although very late, i've started watching Full Metal Alchemist and seems good so far. :3
