« on: November 02, 2007, 08:08:49 PM »
Hey guys.. When I watch videos, the whole video turns green or pink.. Kinda like watching it with nightvision on.. And it only happens for .wmv and some .mpg formats.. I've tried different players but they outcome is all the same.. My vid card comes with Splendid Video Technology.. Kinda like ATi's AVIVO.. But splendid works with all videos.. But the thing is, .avi's don't have this prob.. just the 2 I mentioned... A lil help please? Thanks in advance..

Computer Talk / ATi or Nvidia
« on: October 11, 2007, 08:40:56 PM »
As godson said in the 'Post your graphics topic', why does everyone choose Nvidia? Sure, it's a given that Nvidia cards are SLIGHTLY cheaper compared to ATi cards on the market.. But I have heard from a friend of mine, the Nvidia cards are a lil unstable.. His card burned out are like a year or so.. Then he got an ATi card an it lasted him like a 4 years..

Besides, ATi has stuff like AVIVO.. I'm unsure if Nvidia has a same sort of program.. Anyway, whats so great about Nvidia? The HD2900XT can rival the 8800GTX in benchmarking.. So ATi can't be that bad..

Computer Talk / Overclocking your CPU
« on: August 20, 2007, 08:40:22 PM »
Hi guys.. I recently read a tut on how to overclock CPUs in PC Gamer.. So I thought that I'll type out (I don't have a scanner.) what they said so that all you guys can overclock instead of buggin Brandonnumbers on MSN..  (Sorry, I don't have any pics.. I'll try to get some..)

1. The first place that you head to is the BIOS. Don't mess with anything you don't need to touch.. For those who are unsure on how to get here, press Del or F key as the PC boots.. It should say something like "Press ??? to enter setup" in case you don't know..

2.Lingo differs from BIOS to BIOS so you'll have to search for the screen dealing with the CPU and the front side bus (FSB).. It could be called advanced or CPU settings or whatever the heck it is.. It'll refer to processor frequency, speed or clock..

3.If you're super rich or lucky, there's an option called "Multiplier" that you should be able to alter.. This will raise the clock speed and nothing else.. There should be another figure called "External Clock" or "Front Side Bus".. The CPU's clock speed is multiplied by the multiplier..

4.In most cases, you can't alter the multiplier so the FSB A.K.A External clock is the one to raise.. Stick it up by 10Mhz.. Don't rush it.. You may fry the chip if you jack it up too much.. Essentially, the math is:Ultimate Clock Speed=External clock x Multiplier Please note that the RAM speed increases as the FSB speed increases... Which is not always a blessing..

5.There'll be another BIOS option for memory.. Possibly known as DRAM. You should lower the clock speed of this to the minimum available.. However, if there's no option to do so, you may need to change an option called "timing" from automatic to manual..

6.Now, you can slowly raise the external clock speed by 10MHz at a time, booting into Windows and running a stability test such as CPU burn-in [Download link] to make sure you haven't overdone it. Repeat the process above until the PC crashes or refuses to boot..

7.In the event that the PC won't boot, you'll need the CMOS reset.. It's a small button or a jumper (a tiny plastic thing that slips over a couple of metal pins).. This'll restore the BIOS to it's default settings.. The location differs from motherboard to motherboard so check the motherboard manual to find it..

8.Now, re-clock the external clock A.K.A Front Side Bus to the highest speed that you've proved works.. Then take the RAM speed 10MHz higher than the minimum. If the PC crashes, lower the bus.. Continue this process until you reach a middle ground where both run as fast a possible..

I really hope that you can do this without the pictures.. Guys, make sure that you have good cooling.. Just make sure that air can shift fast.. The temp of the processor will increase when you overclock.. Most of the standard processors will have a temp read out.. The moment it gets too hot, lower the FSB so that you don't fry the chip.. Don't blame me if it's fried.. I just provide the means but you carry out the action.

Edit: Don't tamper with your CPU voltage if not, like brandon said, you'll void the warranty.. And yes, he's right, most of the CPUs now have a fail safe so it's difficult to fry the chip without the fail safe kicking in.. And I added a link for CPU-Z here

Computer Talk / Power supply to mobo
« on: July 21, 2007, 10:31:16 PM »
Guys, I need help. I'm gonna build a new comp soon.. The mobo I'm gonna buy is this one. http://www.giga-byte.com.my/Products/Mothe...?ProductID=2514 but the thing is, in the page in says Internal I/O connectors. What the heck does that mean. Does that mean that the supply inside that section will come with the mobo or does it mean that the mobo NEEDS the stuff in that section? Can someone help me?

Computer Talk / Hanging Comp
« on: July 14, 2007, 09:03:40 AM »
Guys.. My computer seems to be hanging more often now.. It's an XP.. When I play Republic Commando it hangs even more often..

Edit: Usually, my comp does not hang.. But recently (2 days ago), while I was playin Republic Commando, a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) appeared and said something about a 'ati3duag.dll file that appears to be missing'.. Since then, my comp has been hanging for small little things...
Besides that, when I play a Crysis DivX video, everytime I played it until 9.45 mins, the comp will hang.. I scanned it with Avast! and it came up clean.. That's about as detailed as I can give you.. Please help A.S.A.P!

Guys! There's something wrong with my comp.. Everytime I press the power button, the tower turns on but then the monitor doesn't come on.. Then i pull the plug, turn it on again, it still doesn't work! After trying it for a while and it still doesn't work so I give it a break..

When I turn it back on, it works.. When I get to the desktop, it says something about my display settings being set to the lowest.. My new comp ain't due for at LEAST another 5 months and I still need this comp for projects.. Can someone please help me... Thank you..

P.S:Also sometimes, my comp works but when i get to the desktop, it lags like hell.. then when I click start, my whole comp hangs and I have to reset it.. Please try help me for both the probs..
