Title: Post Your SuperPi 1M Times.
Post by: brandon6199 on August 30, 2007, 09:17:10 PM
***DOWNLOAD THE ATTACHED ZIP FILE***

Then extract it and run the exe. Then click calculate at the top and select 1M, then push OK. Once it finishes, it will give you a time. Post that time here and a screenshot.

This stresses your CPU and ram and tells how fast your computer can crunch big numbers, and it's just for benchmarking, so post your scores.

My time is 10.249 seconds:

31.165 seconds 1M is my fastest time
AMD

make 2 sections, 1 for amd and 1 for intel because AMD times are always higher

Well that would mean everyone would have to post their CPU and details and crap

who cares, just a fun little list. 31.165s is an awesome time with an opteron

and the fact that i've never seen my CPU get over 53C...

CPU's can withstand so much heat, Intel makes the CPU shutdown if it reaches 75C on Core 2 Duo's, so it can reach that high without being unstable.

So if Intel says anything under 65C is safe, then I think we should go by what they say rather than what you say.

Sprinter, if you think our CPU temps are too high, then let our CPU's "explode". You don't know shit. Stop spamming up the topic.

The throttle temperature for my CPU is 73C, and the shutdown is 75C. FROM INTEL. HERE'S A SCREENSHOT.

dont post this crap anymore, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. if you have any stupid other comments, put them in a PM and send that to me. Ill ignore it there.

I'm using a Zalman CNPS9500AT with the thermal paste that came with it. I just installed it today along with my new 8800GTS.

I hit 2330 now, so now I have a 1:1 ratio (333MHz FSB, DDR2-667). The temps are still staying under 65C under full load. And no, haven't touched the vcore.

You might wanna update that again

1.6V
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
But during 1M @ 3.45GHz 1.6V i have max 60 degress. During Orthos @ 2.8GHz 1.275V (lower that std VCore) i have 67 degrees. During Orthos @ 3.4GHz 1.65v i have 90 degrees, but i ran it only for 20 seconds ;]
I have FSB Wall at 387 ;/
You have better score, because u have 4MB L2 cache. 4MB gives 3 sec in 1M
On ur CPU i can score 10-12s ;] (on Water Cooling or Dry Ice)
Sorry for my English

my current record was 3.6ghz, 5-5-5-12 800mhz, all I need to do it clock my ram to 4-4-4-12 900mhz and it'll improve my time by quite a bit

well i beat my old time by a little, this was at 3.33 ghz and 1900 mhz fsb, and ram was at 950 mhz, 4-4-4-12 2T

still on stock voltage, 1.25v

How can you see in orthos what failed, or made the error? Like the ram, or the cpu? Mainly because I want to run my pc higher then 415 mhz, but I can't find out what is crashing orthos. My ram is at 4-5-5-12 830mhz, should I set my timings more loose?
Title: Post your SuperPi times.
Post by: Barney on October 22, 2007, 05:39:49 AM
always set your ram to something like 5-5-5-15, default MHZ, THEN oc your cpu, once you find a stable clock speed, then tighten your ram speed and timings

Okay, but the thing is when I clock my CPU host Frequency (see photo) the memory frequency also goes up.. I don't get how you guys can prevent this to happen.

Temps are going pretty bad.. Up and over 60 (I kinda want to keep it below 55), so I geuss I'll have to buy a new heatsink.. Anyone got some good advice? I know some of you have a Zalman heatsink, and I got one instaled right now (bought it for my p4 a while back..). So now I want to get a Zalman CNPS9700 NT cause I allready installed the mounting bracket, and it seems like a good heatsink. But if any of you got a better idea, please say so! Oh and advise on cooling paste would be usefull..

Intel SpeedStep Technology

Title: Post your SuperPi times.
Post by: Ferσή on October 29, 2007, 06:04:57 PM
It decreases the multiplier by 2 when idle and brings it back up to 8.0 when load. But 8x263=2136. Stock clock on the Q6600 is 2.4ghz I thought it was 2.6ghz so I was off by 200mhz. Either way my E6750 scores a high 18 clocked at 2.6ghz and he has 2 more cores then me so when it kicks back up to 8.0 on the multiplier hes still gets 3 seconds less and that only leads me to believe something is not changing the bus speed back to 300 if that is underclocked for powersaving as well.
Title: Post your SuperPi times.
Post by: Ph33r on October 29, 2007, 09:28:21 PM
Any idea how to bring the multiplier back up to 8? Then I can run the test again..

P.S: I haven't OC-ed my processor yet.. Don't want to..
Title: Post your SuperPi times.
Post by: Ferσή on October 29, 2007, 10:19:19 PM
The multiplier is not your problem, the bus speed is.

Follow that and set your CPU frequency back to 300mhz (Thats the default for the 6600 series.) if you want to get what you paid for.
Then run orthos for a few hours, 9 hours is perferred but since your not really doing any "over" clocking you should need about 4hours max. Monitor your temperatures as your doing this make sure its not getting over 65 with the 100c Tjunction, if its the 85c Tjunction then make sure its not getting over 50c.
http://sp2004.fre3.com/beta/orthos_exe_20060420.cab (http://sp2004.fre3.com/beta/orthos_exe_20060420.cab)
If you don't feel comfortable doing this then call Asus tech support.

Title: Post your SuperPi times.
Post by: Ph33r on October 30, 2007, 09:48:50 PM
But according to the multiplier, i need a bus speed of 400MHz to get what I paid for.. 300 will only get me 1.8GHz.. But the thing is, if there is a way to change the multiplier to 9, then 267 will be just fine.. I do notice that in CPU-Z, the multiplier flits from 6 to 9 but its usually stable at 6...
Title: Post your SuperPi times.
Post by: Ferσή on October 30, 2007, 09:52:03 PM
*sigh*
do you even read anything
intel cpus have energy saving technology that changes the multiplier... look in cpuz when your stressing the cpu you will see that its 8
8x300= 2400
Title: Post your SuperPi times.
Post by: Ph33r on October 31, 2007, 06:01:49 AM
I ran a CPU stress/stablity test to prove your theory.. And turns out, when the CPU has like 25% usage, it jacks to 2.4GHz.. Here's the proof.. BTW, the multiplier changes to 9 instead..

Isn't this program sorta dated?

I got like 22 sec

Never. It's one of the most popular methods of benchmarking CPU and memory. And if you want to be on the list you're gonna need a screen shot and an exact number   ;)

Updated. Awesome time DC.
I can JUST about reach 11 secs dead with a full O.C, that time was a very minor O.C but I felt a thoroughly stable setup was a bit better. E8400 E0 stepping btw.

Yeah that sounds about right. I haven't pushed mine that hard either. I will later though. E8500 E0 stepping here.

I'm gonna shoot for sub-10 seconds on a cold day and after tightening up my ram timings.

Anyways, I improved my time a bit. I'm having some trouble hitting 4.6 GHz... I need to play around with it some more.

10.249s

For under 10 seconds, I think you're gonna need around 4.7 GHz.

Interesting to look back at the old posts on this topic and see how far technology has come in the past few years.  Need's to updated though, those old records are shattered.  :ajaja:
