Help in regards with WIN8 and GTA
« on: October 01, 2014, 04:07:23 AM »
So I got a new great Acer laptop yesterday that has the new[I think it's new, I haven't been up to date with these too much lately] WIN8, after ages on my old machine with XP... and it runs very well and even makes VC look like a proper HD game.

However, the issue is, I can not move around the mouse in the game and I can not click with it on anything in the menu, that has to be fixed so please do suggest your ideas and experience with that maybe, thanks for helping in advance.

Run it in Windows 98 compatibility.

or you could use a widescreen fix . I did it and no more ESC Smashing nightmare and i don't have to run it in 98 compatibility mode , some function in Dannye's USCM won't work if you run it in 98. This is the widescreen fix i'm using : https://github.com/ThirteenAG/Widescreen_Fixes_Pack/releases/tag/gtavc
For some reason the one in Neo's VC HD doesn't work for me and make the game crash all the time.

VC & SA are often having this issue when running on multithreaded systems (pretty much any systems nowadays).

Once you have the game opened, set the core affinity of the "gta_vc.exe" process to 1 core in the task-manager's details tab only.
(Running the game in Win 98 compatibility mode makes it run on less cores (threads), but it doesn't seem to always work for everyone.)

Here's a guide for a permanent solution:

Try this, it works nicely for me on my Win8 computer at school, though I don't check 1 and 2, I just check 1. But try both just in case.
