SA Chat & Support / [Fixed]SA crashing at menu

I had installed my game to my external hard drive directly from the disc and for some reason needed to use my disc to play no matter what or I crashed. Installing it to my C drive *standard directory* then copying/cutting it to where I wanted it fixed the problem :)

Ok so I've just set my PC back up after some great fun! <_< reinstalled SA, installed a no CD crack and dannyes schtuff but the game crashes when the start menu is about to appear.. for some reason leaving the CD in the drive makes it all good but.. yeah... thoughts?

GTA Modding / LC collisions list

I need a list of what collisions in LC need to be fixed.. I know there are a buttload and I really can't be arsed to go around the city finding them all so who better to ask than you guys, what collisions are missing and or incorrect?

I told the leader of the LC mod that I would do this AGES ago and I started to but never got a list of what ones needed fixing so it fell to the back of my to do list. Right now I'm still working on PedRising and Vice Andreas but I'm waiting on a few things for VA and Casey for PedRising so I figured I'd do the work on LC I was supposed to months ago :lol:

so could you guys get me a picture of every building or fence or.. anything.. any part/parts of the map that need editing and post the pictures here, once I get enough then I'll open up MEd *moo mapper stopped working -.- * find the file names then get to work. I won't release them here but after I get this done along with the ped rigging I was meant to do, he will probably release the next LC beta so you guys will be able to download that n grab all the fixes :)

And they're all I can think of... any others I've missed? some of the ones where fixing them would lead to a dead drop into a place you can't escape I might just edit the dff to look like there's a roof there instead

Also I can't decide whether or not to update the tri billboards to be more realistic.. they'd be harder to precision which would be good but I duno..

Ok so PedRising/UndeadRising/whatever.. Casey's been going around taking photos of things that we can use as textures but I need as many textures as possible and we're having real trouble with tree's because where he lives, the tree ratio is 90% gum tree and 10% random shit.. gum tree's look very distinct and are not in america as far as I know.. which is a problem so I figured I'd come and ask you guys for help :)

you don't have to be american to help, anywhere in the world really, you just need to have a camera that can take large photo's of 2000x2000 or so, every texture we make will be 1024x1024 but for ones like tree branches and other fauna, the larger it is, the easier it is for us to modify to crop crap out :) And a steady hand :P

Things we need? Fauna is the main thing, trees, shrubs, plants in general but sooner or later we're going to need all sorts of things (concrete, paths, roads, grass, dirt, bricks, walls, roofs, random objects like air conditioners, hub caps, animals *though getting good animal textures may be impossible XD*, materials from chairs or carpet, wooden things... you name it, we need it) and seeing as we are our own "artists" when it comes to creating textures, we need all the help we can get :lol: when I worked on Gostown, they had an artist on board who's soul job was creating concepts, textures and graphics so he could whip up whatever you needed and unfortunately we lack that luxury :/

How do you get a good texture photo? Well remember that it's goign to be put over the top of a model and wrapped around it so the images need to be as flat as possible, if it's 90% good but not perfect then send it anyway and we can fix up little errors for good enough images :D

For things like trees and branches, they need to 1 be as close as possible to get the actual tree or branch in as high a quality as possible and 2 make sure that behind the tree is some sort of flat colour like a blue sky, clouds or buildings will make it damn near impossible to use :/ ALTHOUGH A defined branch with of the same tree behind it is still very good because it will blend together nicely :) so both are good.

Here's an example of a good branch image and the resulting alpha I made from it





now I'm not great with this sort of thing so unfortunately I can't actually use that image for the texture, I'm only going to be able to use it to make the alpha and use a similar image to get the leaves then add my own branch..

If you have photoshop experience and think you can give me tips then it would be much appreciated as Casey and I pretty much learn ourselves then help each other which works fine but we're on a new level here :lol:

I'm quit pissed that AFTER me and Casey moved PedRising from VC to a new game engine, people come out with the ability to code things we fucking wanted <_< I wanted guns to lay on the ground with the ability to press a button and pick it up BUT NOOOO NO ONE COULD FUCKING DO THAT WHEN WE WANTED IT....

Expression Section / 1st time working with next gen gaming textures

The grass and dirt textures are 1024x1024 where as the tree textures are from SA and are 128x256, that's why there's such a gap in quality

I've never really worked with next generation texture layers for models but seeing as we decided to move pedrising to another game engine so we're going to need to know this stuff soon :) I started making a new tree because we're really sick of the gta style crappy fauna so.. yeah..














bump map and spec map as well as the original diffuse, what do ya think? :P it's also my 1st good pelt mapping *texture map made for an unusual mesh*

fanfucking tastic movie -not a spoiler but.. iuno..*I kind of felt FUCK YEAH SAMUEL L JACKSON!!! the whole way through because I heard some comments by defranco before I saw it and I was pulled out of the emotion of the movie to be honest*

ignore nitzkit, I haven't bothered changing the player since I made him the re mapped version and same goes for barnies bike although he's not using it :P
