Horror movies
« on: May 16, 2015, 11:48:28 AM »
Tell which one was the first, share your favorites, recommend the good ones.  :cc_detective:
My favourites are the 28 days later & 28 weeks later.
The first "horror" movie that I saw was the Alien IV, I was 7, my brother forced me to watch it. I had nightmares with the Xenomorphs, but there was a speciel one, that I'm still dreaming.. after 13 years for fuck sake. I love horror movies, I saw a lot since then, but nothing can\did freak me out like the Alien movies, I barely able to play the related games, is this a kind of child trauma? Whatever.
I really like Crazies, 1408, AZ, Grudge, Descent, Mirrors, Grave encounters(ending sucks though), REC, Exorcism for Emily Rose, Conjuring, the last 15 minutes of Paranormal Activity and damnit, there is too many to keep naming them, hope someone is gonna continue.  :P

Never really watched horrors, since all the ones I've seen seemed more like try-hard scare-jumps all around, but I've seen The Conjuring some time ago, and even though the concept is really overwhored, the actual outcome was really well-made.

I must've seen more good ones lately, but I just can't remember any of them since we mostly watch these things with friends when we stoned

The genre is so sketchy. As soon as anything CGI is revealed, it just turns into a scarejump fest. I heard The Descend was the worst of the worst, but as soon as it got bloody and the monster was revealed, it was just.. Boring.

I haven't watched Insidious but I've heard a lot of great things. Also watched that stupid pewdiepie promoted "As Above So Below", and it was actually quite good. It's a typical play on no-return and claustrophobia but it was actually genuinely good.

Hm, I kinda liked the first Descend, even if I'm not really into the gore and trash horrors. It had some good moments.
Forgot to mention Eden lake, it's not a horror at all, but it's one of the finest of those movies, that makes you feel sick after watching it. I recommend it, highly.

Yeeeeeee. I just love trashy splatter movies, especially when zombies are included. However, I always hated the Scary Movie series.

More good stuff:

Planet Terror
Zombie Strippers
Zombieland
Shaun Of The Dead
From Dusk Till Dawn
Dead Snow
Land Of The Dead
Resident Evil
Underworld
...

Still have to watch this one:

Totally forgot about The Human Centipede too.

Human centipede was funny, like the most of the trash movies, it's more like comedy.  :P
Still have to watch this one:

What the fuck is this?  You should watch "Teeth" and "The blob".

Haven't heard about As above so below, it looks nice though, gonna watch it.

Any thoughts about the Dyatlov movie? I found it interesting, loved those little moments, when there was something on the screen, but as an easter egg, you notice it, or not. Ending was... strange, could be better.

Also recommending "The Strangers"
I liked Cabin in the Woods :euro:
Rating it by the trailer, looks fucked up.  Road, woods, little house and then a lab, what.

Yeah mate. The first Saw movie was badass, the others..  :neen:

Nosferatu, Psycho, Salem's Lot, The Exorcist, It, Carrie...fuck man, the list goes on and on about movies that still scares the shit out of me. Not much for modern horrors at all, they ain't got no feeling.

Still loving the old ones also, and have to agree with you about this. They can scare you, but you're not gonna fear.
Conjuring is an exception for me though, it was a well made movie.

Nearly forgot about this one:

Gave me lovely chills the first time I saw it at night.
