Maybe we should also start talking about why those albums are our favorite albums instead of just posting the album covers.

M.I.A. - Matangi:
Matangi is my Hip-Hop AOTY because it is versatile and ranges from experimental Hip-Hop to straight up EDM Trap. Still, it feels like a coherent work of art and excels at production. My favorite tracks were Matangi, Warriors, aTENTion, Bad Girls, Double Bubble Trouble and YALA.

Heavenly Beat - Prominence:
Heavenly Beat is a balearic Dreampop project by the former Bassist of Beach Fossils. Prominence is his second album and pretty much solidfies his sound. It captures this feeling of a hot Spanish summernight while at the same time being very introspective. Favorite tracks are Lenghts, Expectation, Stable and Prominence.

Deafheaven - Sunbather:
Deafheaven is a post-metal band which have released one of the more polarizing albums this year. Sunbather successfully combines shoegaze and black metal and essentially a complete new sound which still differs from the typical blackgaze sound. Sunbather is my AOTY because it has a somewhat up-lifting and sort of happy sound, but at the same time it creates this atmosphere of melancholy and hopelessnes. All that coupled with this overwhelming soundwall of guitars and these desperate screaming vocals make it an outstanding release of 2013. Also, Dream house is my personal song of the year.

2013 was a rather disappointing year in my opinion... the albums by Chase & Status, Bonobo and 30 Seconds To Mars were all much weaker than I anticipated. Anyway, here's my list (not really ordered or anything):

Arctic Monkeys - AM

Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest

BT - A Song Across Wires

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories

Ellie Goulding - Halcyon Days

Glasser - Interiors

Hadouken! - Every Weekend

Isosine - Mashup Manifesto III

Kanye West - Yeezus

Modestep - Evolution Theory

Phoenix - Bankrupt!
