Blog / GREB sequel
« on: October 19, 2014, 03:45:26 PM »

GREB 2 is the sequel to my solo GREB, released about 1,5 months ago. The stunts were performed by me, as well as the editing. Click here to go to the topic for links to the video. Please leave a comment with what you think about this video! :)

Blog / Recent jet stunting
« on: October 16, 2014, 12:20:50 PM »
I've received some requests from several people to have a little blog post about this topic. Plane stunting is something that gets heavily seperated from regular bike stunting and is easily overlooked - despite being just as enjoyable. :)

Most noticeable is the magnificent jet stunting by Viper. If you haven't heard of the guy, you should go check out his videos - you won't be disappointed. If you have, go check it again. See his latest GTA V video called "Viper" here (click me)

Also worth worthing, is the debut video by iKaoz which was recently released, too. Go see all about it by clicking here.

WH Video Releases / GREB 2
« on: October 16, 2014, 11:24:59 AM »

The sequel to my recent solo, i hope you guys enjoy just as well again. Couldn't put any more effort in the editing, sadly, because im back on an older computer, which is a pain to work with.

Once again, im aware of oldies and whatever. I just don't care  :neen:. It's about viewing pleasure, not about being competitive. Also i believe that the maps of SA, VC and LC all belong together - no matter what engine.

Thanks go out to Taz for continuously supporting me although i don't even stunt, and to Beat, for his WMV render setting i used.

/edit: forgot some credits to give!

I used Vegas 9.0e, VC2SA Beta 1, Labiloute's time.cyc, Dannye's main.scm & SA Freeplay!

Enjoy! :jajaja:

Video Editing Tutorials / Fixing Vegas 9.0d & 9.0e AVI-related problems
« on: October 15, 2014, 07:36:01 AM »
I found a VERY simple fix over google.

The problem is rather famous. While using Vegas 9.0d-e (or even more recent versions), you receive the error message "unrecognised frame format, please install the latest version of fraps" upon importing AVI-files recorded with fraps.

Other symptoms of this problem are:

- a ridiculously slow booting vegas
- vegas taking very long to import AVI files (as opposed to instant, which it should do)
- long waiting times upon opening projects.
- rendering errors (black frames) and crashes upon rendering

Here's the fix:

you need to acquire the file "aviplug.dll" located in .../Vegas/FileIO Plug-Ins/aviplug/ from a vegas PRIOR to vegas 9.0d. it must be vegas 9.0c or older. now use that older .dll you got to replace the one in your vegas version and your problems will be gone.

works for me in 9.0e and has been reported to work in lots of others. just make a backup and test it. :)

fix was found here:

SA Stunting Challenges / Classic spot limbo
« on: September 28, 2014, 11:14:15 AM »
While dirtybird and i were both giving this spot a shot during a skype session, i had the idea of making this awesome stunt into a game of limbo. For those who don't know: this is the spot of Explosions finisher in TMS' Chapter XXIII video. Game's simple:

1. Get as much rotation as you can in between the grinds
2. Post replay + ISB (and a clip if you can)
3. Have highest score for 3 days
4. Win

I'll award 1000 forum credits to the winner. It's all i have. :jajaja:

Good luck!

Community Videos / Open collab.: GTAS' decade "Tribute" or "Cover Collab"
« on: September 23, 2014, 11:52:23 AM »
I've had this idea for a community collaboration (not community-video sized though) in order to celebrate the 10 year existence of these forums.

As always, a lot of people are coming up with the hard to kill idea of an overall best of GTAS. Please stop doing that. Instead of trying to force all the great stunts that have been nailed in the past into one single video, please just honor the videos they were originally released in.
A complete best of is an impossible project anyway, since many replays are lost.

Instead however, why don't we put out a video which pays tribute to those great stunts of the past by re-landing them ourselves. Those could be done either as close to the original execution, or with a certain twist to them; your personal touch.

How do you guys like this idea?
Everybody could send exactly 1 stunt which he re-landed. I'd keep this a list in the topic showing which stunts have already been submitted ("covered") so nobody wastes any effort. I'd take over organisation and maybe the editing too.

Share your thoughts on this. :)

/edit

let's get this going.

Nothing submitted yet:
Shingetsu, chiler, Blaze, Sheeptea, PK, ZeRo, J.Mario, Paull, JL, TrYp, NumeRo, imbaA, eXe, Simon

Submitted:
- SA - Promagic - Daksad's wallride from Arcane at 2:40
- SA - Hachiro - RAD's opener from Unbroken
- SA - ToTy971 - Burn's opener from Onslaught
- SA - dirtybird78 - Explosion's finisher from Chapter XXIII

Props me. Feel free to sign-up though, just in case.

When submitting a stunt, please also state who landed it originally and which video it was included in.

Replay checker for VC: Simon. Send your stuff to me though.

Tutorials / How to make editors love you...
« on: September 19, 2014, 12:54:05 PM »
... cut. your. replays.

This is something everyone needs to know about and it's actually not just for the benefit of the editors, but also for everyone else who likes to look at somebody elses or his own replays.

As i'm busy editing or rather recording footage for the SASL:2013-video, i'm constantly puking in circles because people don't cut their replays and i have to sit through 5-7 attempts of the stunt before i can actually get somewhere. That is, in case i don't miss the actual attempt. How am i supposed to know when the actual stunt is gonna happen, right? People don't even make the effort to conveniently name their replays in a way that would let the editor know that the actual stunt is the 5th attempt in the replay.

It's a huge freaking waste of time for everyone having to sit through all that over and over. Especially editors - i'm sure you guys know what i'm talking about.

But instead of relentlessly moaning, i'll have an attempt at a solution:

Dannye's main.scm (if you don't know what that is you propably live under a rock)
has a replay-cut-feature.

Here's how to use it (properly):

1. Fail your stunt
2. Leave your vehicle
3. Use "Load location 1/2 from foot"
4. Your replay is cut in the moment you use the function

It might be weird or seem like an extra effort at first, but you'll get used to doing that and everyone will profit from. Just remind yourself of the convenience of immediatly seeing everything that is relevant once you load that sweet, perfectly cut replay pressing F3.

And nothing else.

No time wasted. For everyone.

Please pin this and spread the word.

Blog / 10+ years of GTAS!
« on: September 19, 2014, 06:03:19 AM »

Hey there everyone! GTAS has been around for over a decade now and i think everybody kinda forgot to make note of that. If anybody knows the exact date of creation of this forum, shoot please. A lot of stuff has happened in that decade and this place went through many phases. After all, i'm very glad this community still exists and i'd like to make a nice editoral blog post about everyone's favorite moments, events and especially video releases.

What made you join the community, which videos do you remember the most, what inspired you to stunt and what do you like about this commmunity?

Tell us all about it in this topic!

10 years! :a-cheer:

Blog / SASL:2014 still going & GREB
« on: September 07, 2014, 06:13:06 AM »

SASL:2014 is still alive and kicking. For better flow of the league, SSU's very own Bart has been added as a backup-judge. Thanks to him for pickung up the job! A lot of matches are going right now and new ones are supposedly going to be posted later today.

Check it all out in the subforum (click).

I also released a small solo a couple of hours ago. Not aiming at having impressive stunting (neither editing), but instead a pleasent watch. Check it out and be sure to tell me what you think about it in the topic (click me). :jajaja:

Big props to Taz for putting it on his YouTube channel.

Hey guys. :euro:

I literally glued together a solo here. Nobody wanted to edit it and i don't have the nerve to put any effort in editing at the moment.

All that this solo is supposed to be is a fun watch. So stick your "old" or whatever comments where the sun shines. Seriously. :jajaja:

Have fun, YouTube coming later!
