SA Modded Video Releases / Re: BlackTear - Best Of All Time
« on: August 09, 2018, 03:01:32 AM »
@SoLoD:
Yes, it is! Any form of modding/cheating is crap. Regardless of the video not being clean, the entire package was awful in my opinion (bad songs, generic boring look, absurd guesting, editing, etc.). :P

If you're praising BlackTear's cheated/modded stunts, you're either ignorant or blinded. No matter if reduced gravity like Baseline or cheat abuse like BlackTear - they both don't deserve any props/credit for their bullshit stunts. Mods & cheats accomplish the same thing, they expand the possibilities beyond the state we consider legit, hence they should both be treated the same way.

His stuff is partly unique only, because it's been accomplished with the abuse of mods & cheats, which are an unfair advantage kinda. You've got no clue what really skilled & honest stunters could pull off if they would use the same shit as him.

@BlackTear:
Don't try making yourself look cleaner than you are. We all know you've not only cheated, but modded too. There's a whole lot more variables than just gravity, which can easily be modified :)

If you wanna land big stunts, just mod the handling like everyone else :jajaja:

What a bump of an old topic, but glad to see you popping in.
I still had a screenshot of my 1:40 run from last year - guess I'm pro then :euro:
The high 30s should certainly be a thing, cuz we only raced a few hours total.

Billy & Illex should engage a room together :|

Personally I like the train one outta these the most too. Thank you 2 for approving my thoughts!
I love the grumpy cat's expression nonetheless :>

@Kuki: We aimed for this low key light look on set already. Therefore the background was just a plain black curtain, so all I did was painting over it's visible wrinkles in post. The light source was a freestanding flash diffusor/softbox, which obviously, gives a soft look overall. So nope, no major bloomy/glowy shit going on in post.
Aside from that, I don't get how you can call them outta focus. Both were shot at aperture f/10, so they have a fairly high depth of sharpness.  :jajaja:

Moooar pic postings guys!

Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas / Re: Sparks in replay [Request]
« on: January 06, 2018, 07:35:58 AM »
IMO gunners replay system was quite cumbersome. It is possible to read out actual replay.rep files and replay them in real-time using the same principle PSA (SA-MP server) had. It shouldn't be too hard to program this as the replay.rep file format has been reverse engineered. The only problem I foresee is that playing 25fps replays in real-time will probably speed up significantly as most people easily reach 100fps plus these days.

Wouldn't enabling the frame limiter solve that re-playing speed issue? There's several external ways of locking the FPS alternatively.
Another solution would be to slow down the entire game speed via SACC i.e. while re-playing. It allows 1% in-/decreasements if I remember correctly.

And yeah, I added all the sparks in Anomaly in post processing.

Here's the bike only (again) :cheersad:
Once with the outer shadow and once without. I saved it in several file formats, so go with whatever suits your needs

Edit: The EPS ones are a bit fucked, cuz I didn't remove the layer of the original pic :P
Lemme know if you need that fixed and I'll do it another time

Unfortunate to hear about your previous build. I guess those 1.4 V were a lil too much in the long term. We all love the good smell of troubleshooting :euro:

That new system would be pretty beefy for the money. The GPU market is a joke currently tho. The 970's chip still holds up very well, but the memory can certainly become an issue. The GTX 970 (4 GB), RX 470 (8GB) & RX 480 (8GB) I had are roughly performing in the same region and the memory made a noticable difference. The average FPS weren't much apart, but the additional VRAM on the RX ones had the FPS dip way less (=smoother overall) in some circumstances.

Some guy was offering Sapphire's HD 6950 (2GB) custom including shipping for 15 € on ebay-kleinanzeigen (GER classified ads site), cuz he couldn't test it's functionality. I took the risk and it paid off. It works just fine, so I cleaned it, applied new paste and flashed it to a 6970. Additional overclocking crashes the system tho. In combination with the CPU, which indeed has a TDP of 120 W, it draws just too much - the PSU just can't handle it. Will try to get a better PSU soon'ish to get this thing done. I did the mod the other way round - modded the 771 CPU (pin sticker & milled notches), not the 775 socket.

I calibrated my main monitor again recently and I'll build myself a monitor hood based on KAPA boards soon, cuz I couldn't find a reasonably priced one for 29" and 21:9. Well yea, I love deep blacks :cheersad:

Going dual X5650s now eh?! Looking good :a-cheer:

Solid build btw, was the red/black/silver colour scheme intentional or did it just sort of happen? :P
Half a decade ago, when I started the build, I had red on the outside (LED fans) and blue (RAM & PCBs) on the inside. After my Z77 platform died I went for matching internals. So yeah, it sorta happened, but was intentional too to some extent! :P
By now I re-arranged some of the fans (CPU cooler now runs push-pull) and replaced the RX 470 with MSI's RX 480 (8 GB). I flashd it's BIOS to the 580's for testing (multi monitor idle power draw), but reverted back, cuz it sucked way too much under load. Fortunately I picked it up before the mining boom. I'll stick with it at least until the custom Vega models are available.

Edit: I also got rid of my speaker setup. I wanna get 7"/8" nearfield monitors instead. :P

I'm currently building a super low budget system for my oldest niece - also based on a Xeon (X5472). It just needs a GPU now and it's pretty much done. I might be picking up a cheapo GTX 470 locally later today. The PSU sucks ass (non-modular, 400 Watts only & has just a 20pin plug for the MB)! I wanna have some fun OC'ing/tweaking this a bit, so I'll replace it most likely

Burnt Ass - Full Review by HITLER

Stunting:

Taz - NRG Big-Air Bump to Billboard (00:22 - 00:33): Unfortunately this one got modded a few years ago already. It didn't come as a surprise no more and you could've picked something more fitting for the opening stunt imo.
Burn - NRG P2B to Rail Building (00:33 - 00:40): As soon as I saw you approaching, I was hoping you'd have gone for the grind, cuz I've been trying to land that long ago myself.
Taz - Infernus Bush Bump to Bonk to Caligula (00:40 - 00:50): Well known spot and not surprising, but very nicely executed and impressive by it's difficulty. The execution really makes you assume the slightly higher part with the tiles could be a thing.
Burn - NRG Grind to Backwards Bump to Grind (00:54 - 01:03): While I appreciate the thought of having variety, I consider this stunt waaaaay too weak for a video of this kind. In fact I've had this just as a derp'ish fun spot myself a few years back. The fact Biel landed/stole (?) it not long ago should've discarded it anyways imo.
Taz - NRG Grind to Wallride to Grind (01:03 - 01:23): Again, a tech'ish approach, but this just doesn't do it for me honestly. Greater stunts have been pulled off with those exit ramps already and a grind 2 wallride 2 grind wasn't anything new as a conceptin.
Burn - NRG Packer Double Bump to Casino Building (01:23 - 01:34): Another reland of a previously modded stunt. I can give you props for investing the effort it takes, but it comes to no surprise it's not catching one off-guard.
Taz - NRG P2B to Building Bump to Top Landing (01:34 - 01:54): This combo was more than obvious ever since Dani0 landed the roof. It's yet another spot I tried myself for a while and therefore it was no surprise. The additional Packer was a bummer, even though I know how annoying it is.
Burn - Infernus Double Bump to Four Dragons (01:55 - 02:20): Now, that's what I'm talking about! Unexpected and big natural stunt with a tricky way of bumping. The execution with the bonk on the tip looked very nice. Landing the tip would've completely killed it.
Taz - NRG SF Bridge Backwards Bump to Grind (02:20 - 02:36): Aaaaaand another reland of a previously modded stunt. Very good execution nonetheless.
Burn - NRG Spin Bump to Wallride to Grind (02:36 - 02:53): Great new approach and usage of the terrain combined with a slick execution - that's the way I like it!
Taz - NRG Stairs Bump to Building (02:53 - 03:11): I did not see this one coming. No matter how picky I am, there's nothing to complain about!
Burn - Infernus Double Bump to Huge Building (03:11 - 03:26): With this one you pretty much made the most out of Infernus bumping. Props for the effort on this thing.
Taz - NRG Bump to Ledge Grind to Breakable Spin Grind (03:26 - 03:35): While your execution was very nice, I still think this stunt is just too weak for this video.
Burn - NRG Hammer Grab to Grind (03:35 - 03:44): A proper airgrab to grind was long overdue in SA. I like the fact you didn't pussy out and went straight for a ledge grind instead of a just fence alike grind (the plane collisions, that the bikes just lock on, you know).
Taz - Freeway Bump to Double Grind (03:44 - 03:57): Meh, another reland. It's been done in both, SA & SAiVC, but with different vehicles already.
Burn - NRG Bump to Wallride to Bonk to Grind (03:57 - 04:07): I like the idea and there's nothing wrong with your execution, but it still feels too ordinary for a project like this.
Taz - NRG Big-Air Bump to Naval Base Grind (04:07 - 04:26): Well... it's been modded before as well, but regardless of that, this stunt is just mental, amen. The execution was flawless too.
Burn - NRG P2B to Bonk to FleischBerg (04:26 - 04:32): And again, no surprise, because I had been trying this one too. Well done!
Taz - Infernus Fence Dropbump to Huge Building (04:32 - 04:38): Yet another reland, meh! The only thing I can appreciate about these is the effort it takes to land them, but that's it. They're boring and not impressive anymore imo.
Burn - NRG P2B to Quarry Building (04:38 - 04:47): I tried landing this shit by P2B'ing the higher part of the building. About fucking time that cylinder got nailed. The outer precision is a bit too much to ask for, but you know I'm a crab!
Taz - NRG LV Highway Bump to Massive Building (04:47 - 04:55): I knew this was possible in theory, because I measured and briefly tested it some time ago. I never expected anyone to be mentally defective enough to put in the effort and nerves it takes. When I saw you approaching it in the intro already, I was pretty sure you'd only have landed the lower part of it, but then you just topped it off. This one should've been the finisher imo.
Burn - Infernus Double Bump to Massive Building (04:55 - 05:12): Unfortunate you lost it. You shouldn't have used it anymore and replaced it with one of your spare stunts.

Editing:

H265 & FLAC - check. I'm glad you've taken over this job, because I think JL couldn't have done justice to the stunts in terms of quality. The editing itself was pretty generic, but I guess that's what you guys wanted. Nothing fancy, just some complementary effects here and there to the stunts. However, personally I would've liked something heavier and unoridnary to round it off as crazy package on all aspects.

Soundtrack:

The song is fine to me as a whole. I just don't like the rather calm parts with the vocals that much. I think it took the wind out of the sails a little at times. Anyways, the guitar parts are pretty dope! It could've been better/worse, but it was a safe bet kinda.

Overall:

This was the only video that I had been looking forward to for years. Unfortunately I knew way too many of the stunts that you guys landed already. Many sstunts either came with no surprise, were too weak or just relands of previously modded stunts (I consider these old; I know most people don't). I just can't really appreciate relands apart from the effort they take. On the other hand, there was some real killers too, so this was a really weird mixture to me. I  expected you two to go completely all out and land every stunt in the absolute best possible way without a single compromise. There's certainly some flaws, but I'm just a picky asshole - no hard feelings. Regardless of that, the tremendous effort you both have invested into some of those stunts can not be denied and is simply astonishing. There's never gonna be a perfectly flawless video, considering that opinions always vary, but I had my hopes up for this one. I have to admit that it was a little disappointing as a whole, but don't get me wrong, this was the strongest video in years! Maybe I just expected a little bit too much
