I agree MTA is much better, however it's severely lacking in players. SA-MP currently has 7,045 players online compared to MTA's 2,536. In the end I'll probably end up creating servers for both but for right now SA-MP seems the easiest to setup and has a large selection of scripts to choose from.

EDIT: Do you still have your script? It might be salvageable.

Hey everyone. I just purchased a years worth of access to a server that should be more than capable of running a stable SA-MP (or MTA) server. I recall getting requests for GTAS to have it's own server. What would you guys want on it? Obviously some kind of stunting but what specific things and features? Pre-made maps? Teleports?

You can also use MTASA to set your resolution.  It'll save to your set file so you'll have that resolution in single player and SAMP.

It's funny how a website that is like 5, 6, 7, 8 years old whatever had a hard time joining Rockstar Nexus which is how old?

Thanks AJ
Not sure what you mean by "hard time joining"?

Thanks to everyone who has donated! Sorry for not being as active these past few months. I've been trying to settle into college and at the same time manage work and getting RockstarNexus off the ground. As you've noticed, we now have a fancy bar!  :a-cheer: I've got some ideas for GTAStunting in my head that I want to implement over the next few months. Probably won't happen until December though as that's when I'm on break from college.

Anyway, some of you were wanting premium benefits for donating. I'm starting today a trial of a "premium membership" that is subscription based. $5.45 for a month and $20.90 for year. The prices will probably change. I've given membership to those who have donated in the past, the bigger your donation was the longer subscription you get (might change too :P). I'll be adding some things for you guys over the next few weeks along with an official announcement.

Also, note that this is just a trial for now. I/We reserve the right to end and/or change the premium program and benefits at any time without compensation. While it's unlikely that you'll loose everything in the event of a program termination or change, it's something that has to be said for legal reasons.

And those who still wish to donate anonymously/without Premium, the donation link is still below.

;) Hope that helps. For the record, how much does it take per year, overall, to keep the site running?
Thanks man! Currently it's around $150 excluding tax and domain fees a year.

Negatives

  • Despite Rockstar's marketing, the single player is a definitely a cover based game. 99% of the time shootdodging could have been fun, but it's not. Why? Because the enemies are so powerful, and because they're constantly sticking to cover. It would have been more fun if the difficulty had been balanced so you could shootdodge/run-and-gun your way through each part of the game.
  • Story was somewhat predictable, and sometimes too far fetched.
  • Lack of variety in progression (go to this room, go to next).
  • Minor bugs (mainly rare audio skipping).
  • Golden guns heavily break the pacing, and the game design works against you when trying to find them. If you're making a linear shooter, don't bore me by making me check every single corner of the level before I progress into the next section of the map.

Positives

Everything else! This game was awesome, I've never played a game that felt quite so cinematic. And any problems I had with the cover based nature of Single Player was alieviated by the multiplayer mode. The whole game is great. And mechanically, it's the most polished game Rockstar has ever published. However just in terms of gameplay variety, this game doesn't match up to other Rockstar games from this generation. GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption are simply more interesting to play, especially from a story perspective.

If Red Dead Redemption was a 10/10 and GTA IV was a 9.5/10, I'd have to give Max Payne an 8.5/10 for the single player, and 9.5/10 for the multiplayer.
On PC, I found myself rarely using cover for the three levels we played but on consoles I was using cover a lot more. It's an issue with consoles having the lack of precision controls that PCs have. I have yet to have "audio skipping" and I've beaten it on 360 and about half-way on PS3. I do agree about the golden guns but I guess it's better than having to buy them as DLC (Red Dead Redemption).

I believe that if GTAV is coming for 360 and PS3, it will come this year. Microsoft has started shipping next gen dev kits so if the past is anything to go on, we'll see the new console the middle of next year. We definitively won't see it this year because the developers won't have enough time and Halo 4 is coming out at the end of this year for 360 so Microsoft wouldn't release its cash cow on current gen with next gen out. Now, Rockstar won't want to release GTAV so close to the release of a next gen console as that would hurt long term sales and if they release it next year that won't give them enough space to reap the long term sales and be able to release DLC. I feel kinda bad for Rockstar because this pins AGENT in a very bad position. If North is still the main developer working on it, it might very well slip into the next gen, which is likely since we haven't heard a peep about it. If they've given it to another Rockstar studio, then we still probably won't see it until next year but by that time we'll be close to the next gen so it'll again be in a bad position.

Now, since we still don't know the platforms for GTAV (which is the oddest thing), there is a slim possibility GTAV will be coming for next gen consoles. This is the most unlikely result but still should be considered. If this is the case, I'd suspect the next game we'll hear about is AGENT as opposed to GTAV. Again, this is unlikely and would be extremely odd since we already have a trailer for GTAV from last year and nothing but a logo for AGENT.

:hmm: After seeing the opening cutscene I must admit that I'm thoroughly disappointed... The script is fucking horrible, it completely lacks the subtlety & ambiance its prequels had & the editing is outright painful to look at, seems like they just hired someone who only knows how to fuck around with layers & stupid color effects, while he fails to deliver a decent atmosphere. The only thing that salvages it is the original soundtrack, but only because of the nostalgic value it has.

I'm sure the gameplay & graphics are still top notch but it seems that the storytelling element of the game is an absolute trainwreck.
I wouldn't base your entire opinion just on the opening cutscene of the game. The game slowly reveals why and how Max's character and his world has changed.

« on: May 14, 2012, 04:22:06 PM »
The next big thing from Rockstar is finally almost upon us. Tomorrow marks the console release of Max Payne 3 in North America and then on the 18th Max will be out across the pond. (PC users will have to wait till the 29th in NA or June 1st in the UK) There are a number of midnight launches going on at GameStop and Walmart stores across both the US and Canada. You can find your nearest store using the locator on Rockstar's website. If you're going to be picking up Max, be sure to register on the Rockstar Social Club and then join our very own GTAStunting crew!

Rockstar used to use the RockstarLoft name for nightclub parties they had when they first started out.
