DSS Video Releases / Re: Impossible is nothing
« on: May 23, 2021, 05:04:30 AM »
What will poor Barney think if he happens to visit the forum and looks at the frontpage? Your tendency to use and abuse other people's skins and player models remind me of a certain episode of Black Mirror. Anyways...

I really loved the video and there were some truly amazing stunts in there. I disliked the two double grind variations at Cherry Poppers. The ship grind combo was great, but these kinds of stunts never seem very eventful to me.

The best stunt was the tank grind, which immediately lands in the category legendary for me. It also is nice that you went around exactly once. The double grind assisted by a stuck infernus that started at the airport was amazing. I remember I tried getting the first grind back in the day which was already not very easy. The park combo was also amazing as you cleared the whole park in one go! The finisher was amazing for me as this once again a spot that everybody has tried atleast once (and probably got close to it), so everybody feels a sense of relieve seeing this landed.

This video is great, but it is diminshed by the seemingly random grinds. I applaud your effort in this day and ago to put this much effort into a stunting video. The apparent fixation on being better than Barney certainly ruined the mood of the video for me. The intro and outro felt like watching a shitty youtube gaming channels intro and felt a little out of place. The rest of the video's editing and music were great and really suited the stunts.

Legendary. It's lovely to see Nitz again. There is something about having a big head that really makes the stunts, and it particular spin, looke really good. Great job to Aries and Kingjad as well. This is really great to see in 2020.

Wow that LC cork to ledge grind was absolutely perfect The transition of Mts dying in the water to him landing a stunt was really funny. The wallride U-turn to barracks is also quite crazy. Great video, a long time since I've last heard Marumari.

Ready? Steady? Grindy! Really love this video as the vibe is just perfect. Standouts were the freeway p2b to grind, LS double grind and the sparks.

This video really makes me feel bad for SA because the grinds there look so terrible. The VC physics are so much more fluent.

Intro: Had to see the video twice to understand the intro.

1:30 - I remember trying this, maybe from the second tree from the landing. I found that starting in the grass earlier next to the sidewalk gets you more speed.
1:44 - That seems like a bitchy wallride to a nice and simple grind.
2:03 - I like the power of the second bump.
2:15 - My first thoughts were that this might be possible to the top, but on second thought the angle seems impossible.
2:29 - Really like this! A very controlled grind with a precise execution of the spin to be able to absorb the impact for the second grind.
2:49 - I don't really know about Barracks bump, but the higher roof might be possible? Nonetheless, the perfectly executed backflip really makes this stunt
2:55 - Perfectly executed grind! And I like the way you get stuck there at the end of the second grind. One thing to note is that the second ledge is higher than the first ledge, which makes it a lot better but is not really captured by the camera angle.
3:06 - Nice way to land on of these towers. What are the max stats you can get from one of these bumps?
3:15 - Pretty simple and old p2b
3:24 - Almost cannot believe nobody ever landed this before. The rail is perfectly offset from the building to be able to get a cab on there.
3:41 - The prec at the end really makes this stunt. Good use of the secondary vehicle.
3:54 - This is probably the best stunt of the whole video. I probably know who landed this as this is a very particular type of grind.
4:07 - Alright.
4:15 - I like this one a lot. The camera angle works perfect on this.
4:24 - Is everyone going to be infernus p2bing now? I don't know, but this is a great application of the powersave technique and a right way to do infernus p2bs.
4:29 - I think this way already done with a side p2b and even on form this tree. Big stunt though.
4:39 - Probably one of those spots. I never tried it though, nice execution!
4:49 - That is one huge p2b. I never even tried it, but it slipped through my head every time I visited the LS highway. I didn't think it possible though. I like the weird landing!.
4:55 - Finally, someone managed to do this. I've seen many people come close to it overtime. Imagine what kind of spots would have been landed if we had the Powersave technique 5 years ago. The top of this building is just one of those thing you have to land.
5:05 - Actually using this car as a small ramp is now possible how great! I really have to try that out sometime soon. Another great application of the new techniques.
5:11 - I landed the lower part of this roof a while back. I don't even think that part is old. Is anyone up for grinding that? Nice one.
5:20 - 2020 and we are bumping NRGs now? Love to see some other spots where we can bump bikes or otherwise. Of course you landed the top. Truly the best stunt in the video.

Editing: The editing was alright and went well with this song. There were some jarring black screens throughout that broke up the flow of the video.

Very nice video and a great showcase of the applications of Powersave. Thanks Burn, Prog, Raekwon and Daksad for the brilliant video.

SA Un-Modded Video Releases / Reynolds - FRISIA
« on: August 27, 2020, 11:59:14 PM »
2020 and a new solo. I would've never have thought that it was possible for me. The video is assortment of  stunts including some old ones that I landed over time and even a very old stunt from 2008.  Due to this global  situation we're in, I found myself with some increased boredom and time and managed to land a few stunts. The main attraction to me to make this video was to introduce the new stuck method most notably featured on the finisher.

In this video I introduce a new method for stucking packers. It only works in a limited number of settings. The main factor is the type of object you stuck the packer into. Only certain traffic lights, light poles and other wise breakable objects, such as trees and planters, will be able to withstand the packer driving into them. I encourage you to experiment with it. Here is a video of a set up https://streamable.com/igc71t and another spot you can try https://streamable.com/i1j4vp . I actually discovered this method a while a go, but I did not figure out that the best way to bump the packer, is by pulling up the middle section of the ramp such that there is a bump on the packer. This leads to some incredible bumps, but the common ailments of stuck methods prevent you from taking a run-up that is too long. Some other tips I can give you: don't pause the game (the packer will unstuck itself) take advantage of the height difference in curbs and perhaps shoot the back(&front) tires of the packer.

The video is edited by OG stunter/editman Artifex and the song that is featured is Kvelertak - Kvelertak. Big thanks to Artifex for taking the time to edit the video and thank you for keeping stunting alive in 2020. We've come a long way.

TMS Video Releases / Re: Kingjad Montage
« on: July 28, 2020, 01:24:09 PM »
I remember finding, by chance, the TMS putfile account wher you guys shared clips of your landed and bailed stunts. I think you had multiple landings of that p2b2stoppie2grind, all of which were bailed. Anyways it blew my mind back in the day that you were the one that would've gotten the finisher in the video. Somehow I view and sense that you have become somewhat of a GTAS icon almost as much as the guys from ATS.

Cool little video you did there although I don't really dig this royalty free music vibe you got going on.

Loved the finisher! I always wondered if someone would find a way to land the top of the lighthouse with a PCJ, but I feel this is even better. I remember also trying the pre-finisher with a stuck PCJ instead. Excellent video, but pick a better song next time.

SA Tutorials / Stuck Methods
« on: May 30, 2020, 11:23:14 AM »
Some people were interested in seeing how to 'lnaturally' stuck some of the vehicles I used in many of my stunts. I decided to make a short video showcasing some of the methods. I'm not advocating for people to use these methods as they are quite lame, but still they can be used in some interesting settings.

You will need to press lean forward for the ZR-350 to slide on to the pole/tree and the cheats used to spawn the Hotring and Trashmaster are VROCKPOKEY and TRUEGRIME respectively.

« on: May 30, 2020, 05:38:44 AM »
Pretty sure you cannot stuck a Turismo like that. Although it is possible to do it with a ZR-350, even on the telephone poles. I tried to no avail so if you know something we do not know please share.

Other than that it was an excellent video. I really liked the grind combos and the infernus stunts. The finisher is huge and I know everyone has tried that sometime or another.

GTA Modding / Replay
« on: May 03, 2020, 04:41:29 AM »
Hello Guys,

Lately, I have found some time again to work on the replay problem in San Andreas. I took the tools and databases created by the people from Plugin-SDK and used them to investigate how replays work. They have decompiled most of the san andreas source code and have labelled most of the functions and data structures. This allowed me to take a close look at the Replay mechanics.

As most of you know already, a replay is sequence of frames wherein in each frame records nearby positions of cars, peds, current time and weather. The game engine updates everything related to the game at 25 fps per second. This includes the playing and saving of frames in a replay when the frame limiter is turned on. However, when turning off the frame limiter, the saving of replay frames is determined by another clock. This prevents the replay from saving frames at a variable rate and ensures a somewhat steady rate of frames in the replay.

By manipulating this clock it is possible to make the game save more frames to the replay than the normal rate. I made a simple .asi script that you can use to toggle higher processing of frames. Then when replaying those higher fps replays they will be played back at a slower rate as the standard replay player of GTA:SA only still plays at 25 FPS. Still I thought some of you might be interested in this. You can record your replays at 25 and speed them up in your video editor and get nice and smooth playback.

However, be warned, higher rate of frames in the replay might make it shorter than usual. A replay can only store limited data i.e. 782 kb of data. Turning on ghost-town improves the length of the replay. Naturally, this script does not work for replays you have already saved. I have not been able to get SA to play replays any faster than 30 fps per second by decreasing the game tick time. If you do decide to use this than I am not responsible for any loss of replays, stunts or sanity.

You can find the .asi script in the Github repository down below. You will need dinput8.dll to load the script

First of all I would like to state my honest admiration for the amount of dedication, time and perseverance it takes to create such a video. Especially in times like these, where many of us have practically given up on stunting. I feel I'm not the only one who experiences this feeling of demoralisation about ten minutes into trying any stunt. Stunting really, even if it is done in a single-player game, is a community experience, at least so it feels for me. The rampant deterioration of this website along with the pessimistic outlook of those who still remain is not helpful either.

Stunting:

As many have said before me, the first part in Alien City is hard to put in to perspective as many of us have never stunted in this map. That said, still there were many great stunts such as the various grind combos. A particular stand-out was the flag grind to grind with the 180 in between. That stunt was smooth, stylish and very pleasing to see.

The United part features some of the biggest stunts landed with the SA engine probably.  The quadruple back-stoppie to grind is such an obvious stunt and I cannot believe no one landed this before. I have seen you try the finisher multiple times on stream and I think this stunt really took some time to land.

For the SA part I think the Sandking police bump to precision could have sufficed for the finisher too. That stunt really amazed me. Good job on landing the Las Venturas airport tower naturally. I cannot help but feel that I lamed that stunt by stucking a chopper between the ramps. I honestly did not think the top part would be possible in this way. I tried it with a single bump to the lowest part and got close in this way. The double grind with the bonk in between was also one of the best stunts in this video along with the San Fierro grind to back-stoppie to grind. I occasionally try that grind just for fun, but it never ever occurred to me to even try this combination of stunts. The finisher is absolutely huge and admittedly it appears weird and unlikely to be possible, and I fully understand the concerns some people have over this stunt. These advanced hydraulics techniques and popped tires you have already shown many times what is possible to land nowadays and I believe it to be legit.

Editing & Soundtrack:

In terms of editing this video felt quite flat. The static camera-work and the choice of showing large parts of uninteresting run-ups contributed to this feeling. The occasionally there was an attempt to spice the video up with some effects, but it was like dropping Tabasco in swimming pool. There really was no dynamism, or clear regard of the soundtrack when it comes to the different sections of the songs used. It also felt like the order of the stunts in this video could be improved. Interleaving more of the technical stunts with the big air stunts would improve the video. I had no clear objections to the songs used, but I felt the particularities were not used in the video. Perhaps this is something you two agreed to, but I feels to me like it did not benefit the videos pace.

8.5/10
