If I remember correctly true black sparks are impossible to make since setting the RGB values to 0,0,0 make them disappear in game. I know a couple of people have had them; I want to say either DeathCobra or BloodyHook had a stunt in a comvid at the VC docks where they bumped to the ship, did a 180 in the air and hit a rail backwards and while they grinded they had very floaty black sparks. You're meant to set the colour values to something close to black but not 0,0,0 although every time I've tried it hasn't worked; if you can get in contact with flatface he may remember how to do it.

^ That was indeed the video I had in mind, for some reason I thought it was a comvid? Not sure how I had that mental lapse since Techjam is one of my all time favourite videos.

Anyway, here you go Frank. I did some searching on the forums and came across a particle line in Adonai's particle request thread from years back where he'd made some guy grey to black fading sparks. Oddly if I set the original particle colours to 0,0,0 it'll be transparent but if I do it with this line it works fine? Maybe someone can compare to find out why but 1. I'm too tired to do it and 2. I'm too lazy to do it :P

UPDATE

My friend from GTAForums helped me figure this one out so I can't take all the credit. The end of the "spark_small" line has the number 40 at the end; this is the "4=DRAW_OPAQUE," flag. Changing this to 15 disables black as transparent and thereby allows you to have solid black sparks. I noticed 15 is the jumpy sparks I shared above and setting that value to 14 makes them like the normal sparks but black. 13 seems even jumpier, 12 is smooth, 11 and lower disables it (or re-enables "DRAW-OPAQUE" I guess) as does higher than 15. Essentially 12/14 = smooth and 13/15 = jumpy.

dude it's not that hard, you have all the info you need, just start messing around with the particles line, there's even a tool for this so you can change it without closing the game !
